 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

 LASG ARRAIGNS OVER 100 SUSPECTS, HOODLUMS BEFORE MOBILE COURT OVER BREACH OF PEACE IN VICTORIA ISLAND, LEKKI AJAH AXIS


The Lagos State Government on Friday arraigned over100 suspects, hoodlums, before the Lagos State Special Offences Mobile Court sitting in Bolade Oshodi for multiple offences bordering on breach of public peace, unlawful conversion of government property, and conduct likely to cause a breakdown of law and order in Victoria Island, Lekki, and the Ajah axis.


The prosecution, led by Mrs. Oluwabusola Omotunde on behalf of the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Lagos State, said the defendants were arrested at the Victoria Island-Lekki-Ajah axis between 2 am and 4 am on Friday, 4th September 2026.


She said the charges preferred against the defendants include breach of peace and unlawful conversion of government property to personal use. During arraignment, some of the defendants pleaded guilty, while others pleaded not guilty to the charges.


Presiding over the proceedings, the Chief Magistrate of the Mobile Court, Hon. F.J. Adefioye, emphasised the need for deterrence while upholding due process. He sentenced the Defendants who pleaded guilty to Counts I and II to one and two months of Community Service or Imprisonment, respectively. The Sentences are to run consecutively.


Those who pleaded not guilty were remanded and granted bail with two sureties each. 


The Coordinator of the Mobile Court, Mr. Olufemi Adekunle, affirmed the Government’s commitment to maintaining law and order while protecting legitimate businesses and residents within the state.


He further stated that similar Mobile Court sittings will continue across the state to ensure that offenders are prosecuted promptly and that public spaces remain safe for all.
