 Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Cotswolds video may be a 'twisted stunt' in taxpayer-funded security dispute, royal expert says


Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently shared an Instagram video showing aspects of their family’s life in England’s Cotswolds. The post included details that some observers believed could help identify their location. 


Royal commentator Tom Sykes criticized the decision, arguing that the couple should have been more cautious because such information could create security concerns. 


He also suggested, without providing evidence, that the post may have been intended to strengthen their case for receiving taxpayer-funded police protection.


Harry and Meghan lost their government-funded security after stepping back from royal duties and moving to the United States in 2020. Since then, Harry has sought the restoration of security for his family.


 Following the couple’s recent return to the UK, the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) agreed to review their security arrangements and conduct a new risk assessment. 


Another royal commentator, Alison Boshoff, questioned why Harry would share information that could potentially reveal their location, noting that members of the royal family are traditionally advised against disclosing such details.


The couple’s security concerns have continued to attract public attention. Sykes said Harry remains confident that his police protection could eventually be restored, despite previous decisions by RAVEC. 


Meanwhile, reports said Harry and Meghan withdrew their children, Archie and Lilibet, from a UK school after only two days because of concerns about traffic and safety in the surrounding area. 


The couple has not publicly confirmed that the Instagram post was intended to influence the security review, leaving commentators’ interpretations separate from established facts.
