 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

 Kidnapped Kaduna Catholic Priest Regains Freedom After Three Months In Captivity The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan in Southern Kaduna has confirmed the release of Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Asuwaye, who was kidnapped in February 2026. In a statement issued on May 12, 2026, the diocesan chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet, announced that the priest regained his freedom after spending three months in captivity. Fr. Asuwaye was abducted on February 7, 2026, when armed men suspected to be terrorists attacked his residence. The incident caused widespread concern among Catholics and residents of Southern Kaduna. Reports stated that the priest was kidnapped alongside 10 parishioners from Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Karku, located in Kauru Local Government Area.  Three people were reportedly killed during the attack.  NDC PRESIDENTIAL AND GOVERNORSHIP FORMS N60 & N30 MILLION; FEMALE ASPIRANTS TO PAY 50% The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has announced the schedule for the conduct of its primary elections, with presidential aspirants expected to pay N60 million while Governorship aspirants  N30 million to secure their nomination and expression of interest forms ahead of the 2027 general election. NDC National Chairman Moses Cleopas in a statement announced that the sale of forms will commence from May 13 to May 18. The party also advised aspirants to attend the planned screening exercise with their relevant credentials and supporting documents. Meanwhile, female aspirants and persons with disability (PWDs) are to pay 50% and 25% of the fees across all categories. The Presidential primary will hold in Abuja May 29th.

 BAUCHI STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE   SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR ARMED ROBBERY AND GRIEVOUS HURT IN NINGI Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a 27-year-old suspect for armed robbery and causing grievous hurt to a commercial motorcyclist along Gada Maiwa–Zakara Road in Ningi Local Government Area. On 11th May, 2026 at about 1400hrs, the suspect, Abdullahi Gambo, male, of Kanaka Village, Ganjuwa LGA, was reported to have attacked an Okada rider with a stick and struck him on the head. The victim sustained varying degrees of injury and was immediately rushed to a medical facility, where he is currently responding to treatment. In the course of the attack, the suspect escaped with the motorcycle.
