 Suspected killer of Nigeria's Daniel Anjorin charged with murder in London


The police have charged Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo with the murder of 14-year-old Nigerian, Daniel Anjorin in Hainault, London, United Kingdom.

Anjorin was stabbed to death in Hainault on Tuesday.

Monzo, 36, a dual Spanish Brazilian national of Newham E16, will appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 2 May, according to the Met Police.

The police said a further four people – including two police officers – were seriously injured, and Monzo has also been charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary, and possession of a bladed article.

They said the families of all those affected have been informed.

Detective Chief Inspector Larry Smith, who is leading the investigation, said earlier: “This is an incredibly tragic incident that has resulted in a young boy losing his life and his family devastated. On behalf of the family, I would ask that their privacy is respected.”

He said this is a complex investigation due to the number of crime scenes, forensic evidence, hours of CCTV footage and witnesses they needed to speak to.

Smith stated that he knew that many people would want answers and that the police were working to provide them as soon as they could.

He added that he would also echo previous calls for patience as his officers carried out a painstaking investigation to deliver justice for Daniel, his family, those injured and the wider community.

According to him, the police had started to build a picture of what happened on Tuesday and thanked everyone who had come forward to share dashcam, doorbell and mobile phone footage with the police.
