The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Niger: "War Isn’t an Option," Cleric Reveals What Will Happen if ECOWAS, Tinubu Do Not Use Dialogue Primate Elijah Ayodele has called on leaders of ECOWAS led by President Bola Tinubu to rethink the declaration of military action against Niger junta. The cleric posited that war isn’t the best option and that if dialogue doesn’t work, Niger Republic should be left alone. "We don’t need this war because innocent people will be killed, leaders will be killed and we will pay heavily for it", he said.

Obasanjo Reveals the only Nigerian Pastor He Believes will make Heaven Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that he is only sure that one pastor in Nigeria will make heaven. Obasanjo made the remark at the funeral service of the late Prelate Emeritus of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr Sunday Mbang, in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, on Friday. The former president said that he thinks Mbang is the only Christian leader in Nigeria who is sure to make heaven because he was not only forthright but also a man of great wisdom. Obasanjo said that he consulted with Mbang shortly after his release from prison in 1998, when he was considering running for president of Nigeria. He said that Mbang’s advice was invaluable to him, and that he gained enormously from it. Suspected motorcyclists k!ll police inspector in Lagos The police command in Lagos state, on Friday, confirmed the death of an inspector attached to the Iponri Division, from injury sustained during an attack by persons suspected to be commercial motorcyclists. The police public relations officer in Lagos, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to newsmen. Mr Hundeyin said that the inspector, whose name was not mentioned, was one of the policemen attacked at Ijora Olopa by the assailants on Thursday. He said that the officer died at an undisclosed hospital on Friday, where he was rushed to on Thursday after the attack. The image maker said that the policemen went to the area to implement the Okada restriction law of the Lagos State government when they were attacked. He said no arrest had been made yet as at press time on Friday evening. Mr Hundeyin said that they were on the trail of those that carried out the attack.

ECOWAS invasion of Niger will last longer than projected: Russia Russia has warned that the deployment of the military by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to Niger Republic would last longer than projected. “We believe that a military solution to the crisis in Niger could lead to a protracted confrontation in that African country and a sharp destabilisation of the situation in the Sahara-Sahel region as a whole”, the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement on Friday. Supporters of the military junta had earlier called on Western nations to leave the country and voiced support for Russia. Eight-year-old Phillipine girl kidnapped in suitcase rescued An eight-year-old schoolgirl, Jin Nichole You, has been rescued after being abducted and confined within a suitcase by the family's apartment caretaker, Godiflor Rama, in the Philippines. The incident took place in the Bakilid district of Mandaue City, Cebu province at noon on Thursday when Jin was on her way back home, Daily Mail UK reports on Friday. The alarm was raised when Jin Nichole did not return home as expected.
