 Outcries Over State Recognised Vigilantes In North-West   The security outfits established by various state governments, especially in the North-West, are being accused of indiscriminate arrests and killing of suspects, as well as innocent people without recourse to judicial processes, findings by Daily Trust Saturday revealed. But those charged with the responsibility of managing the outfits have debunked the claims of extrajudicial killings, though some admitted what they described as “overzealousness” by some of the operatives. It was alleged that in some states, long lists of suspected bandits, their supporters or sympathisers have been arrested and ultimately killed, and such acts are allegedly being carried out without recourse to the police and other law enforcement agencies. FRSC HELPED A PREGNANT WOMAN TO DELIVER HER BABY GIRL YESTERDAY IN OGUN STATE.{READ}.

        The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun on Thursday said that it had taken safe delivery of a baby girl whose mother was in transit along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway. The Public Education Officer of Corps in Ogun, Mrs Florence Okpe, said in a statement in Abeokuta that the FRSC Accident and Emergency Clinic in Sagamu took safe delivery of the baby around 1 p.m. on Wednesday. She said: “A commercial vehicle with registration number XF 365 MKD on transit along the Lagos /Ibadan expressway drove into the FRSC Command premises.“The driver reported that one middle-aged woman by name, Ajoke Ahmed, a passenger in the vehicle, had gone into deep labour.“The FRSC medical team at the Sagamu Accident and Emergency Clinic immediately examined her, but since the clinic is not equipped to take delivery, the ambulance was prepared to transport her to the nearest hospital.“Within this process the pregnant woman gave birth to a baby girl at about 1p.m. inside the command’s clinic.“A me

ANAMBRA PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER EMERGES 2017 NIGERIA BEST TEACHER OF THE YEAR.

    Mr Okodo Nwoye, of Central School Abagana, in Njikoka Local Government Area of the state won the award organized by the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja. Announcing his selection, the Director, Education Support Services in the Ministry, Mrs J.         Late Nollywood actor, Okwudili Chukwujekwu, popularly known as ‘Main Bossman’ was laid to rest amid tears. The big-sized actor was buried Yesterday, October 5th at his hometown at Otolo Nnewi, Anambra state. The news of his death was announced on social media last month by Odira Nwobu, his colleague in the industry who uploaded a video of a lifeless Okwy Chukwujekwu being carried in the back seat of a car. As you can see in the photo, a huge crowd consisting of members of his family, friends colleagues were in attendance to honor the late actor.More photos below.

METAL FABRICATOR IN POLICE NET ON SUSPICION OF RITUAL MURDER IN ANAMBRA STATE.{PHOTOS}.

      A metal fabricator in Anambra State, Ifeanyi Okpoko popularly known as Anagwanti has been arrested by the Ogidi Police on suspicion of ritual murder. Okpoko who hails from Umunnaama, Eziowelle town in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State was accused of abducting one 16 year old boy, Chidera Ezeanya from Late Chief Francis Ekwunife's compound in Eziowelle on Sunday, October1st ,2017. He allegedly tied and hung him on a hand-crane and by the time Chidera's dead body was discovered the next day by the youths in the village, some vital organs were missing from his body. An eye witness, Chukwudi Okafor said the deceased, Chidera, was in his compound playing on that fateful afternoon with his age mates when Ifeanyi Okpoko called him, according to him, Chidera's play mates including himself, had thought that the man wanted to send him on an errand since all of them are from the same Umunnaama village.         The Nigeria Customs Service have continue to clampdown on unrepentant smugglers, as Operatives of the Federal Operations Unit gave a score card of its activities from 29th of August - 3rd of October 2017. The seized items include: 11 used vehicles, 4,227 bags of foreign parboiled rice, frozen poultry products, vegetable oil, Indian Hemp, medicaments, used tyres, scrap metals, wet blue, electric cables, unprocessed wood, bales of used clothing and shoes respectively with a duty paid value (DPV) of Three Hundred and Fifty Six Million, Two Hundred and Five Thousand, Fifty Naira, Seventy Eight kobo (N 356,205,050.78) only.More photos below.

LAGOS JUDICIARY COMMENCES 2017/2018 GOLDEN JUBILEE LEGAL YEAR.

        The Lagos State Judiciary will commence activities for the 2017/2018 Golden Jubilee New Legal year with religious services to be held in Lagos. A statement from the Office of the Chief Registrar of the High Court of Lagos State, Mrs. A.O.Soladoye said that the new Legal Year Services will hold simultaneously at Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina and the Central Mosque, Nnamdi Azikiwe Street, Lagos on Monday, 9th Oc tober 2017 at 10.00am prompt. LAGOS INCREASES RATE OF CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY APPROVAL.

   The Lagos State Government on Thursday said that no fewer than 500 Certificates of Occupancy (CO) are approved every month by the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode in a bid to scale up the provision of housing and create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive in the State. Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tpl. Abiola Anifowose made the disclosure at a press briefing held to mark the 2017 United Nations World Habitat Day, saying the present administration had, since inception, introduced initiatives to reposition the Lands Bureau for greater efficiency and quality service delivery to the people. N81M FRAUD: COURT DISMISSES JUSTICE NGANJIWA'S APPLICATION FOR STAY OF PROCEEDINGS TODAY.{PHOTO}.

       Justice Adedayo Akintoye of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Igbosere, on Friday, October 6, 2017 dismissed an application filed by Justice Hyeladzira Ajiya Nganjiwa of the Federal High Court, Bayelsa Division, seeking a stay of proceedings in a case of unlawful enrichment to the tune of $ 260,000 and N8.65million (about N81, 705,000) preferred against him by the EFCC. At the last adjourned sitting, Nganjiwa was granted bail on self-recognition after he pleaded not guilty to the 14-count charge. The case is adjourned to November 13, 15 and 22, 2017 for continuation of trial.

DISMISSED SOLDIER,1 OTHER IN EFCC CUSTODY OVER EMPLOYMENT SCAM.{PHOTOS}.

       The EFCC have taken into custody the duo of Kabiru Adamu, and Hashimu Mohammed Zakari for allegedly engaging in employment fraud.   The first suspect who was a former military personnel, was picked up by the Nigerian Army following series of complains against him from several of his victims whom he offered recruitment into the Nigerian Army.  After his arrest, the suspect named one Hashimu Mohammed as his accompli ce and same man was subsequently arrested in Kano and both men admitted their crime on the statement sheet.  Upon his arrest, Kabiru was discovered to be carrying a Nigerian Army identity card bearing the name of one Idris Salisu who is also a military personnel. However, the suspect was said to have removed the picture of the bearer and affixed his own passport photograph on the I.D card. When the suspect was asked as to how he came in possession of the I.D card, he claimed he found it in wallet he picked up in Lagos among other valuables.One more photo below.

EFCC ARRESTED FOUR SUSPECTED INTERNET FRAUDSTERS IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF LAGOS.{PHOTOS}.

            The EFCC Lagos Zonal office, have arrested four suspected Internet fraudsters. They are: Oluwaseun Michael, 28; Igbokwe Chijioke, 27; Felix Chukwudi, 22 and Babajide Goloba.   The quartet were arrested in different parts of Lagos, following intelligence report received by the Commission. They are alleged to have defrauded their victims, mostly American and European citizens, millions of Dollars. The suspects, school drop-outs, have  confessed to have been involved in romance/ marriage scam, Internet advertisement scam, spoofing of emails and interception of business mails.They have also confessed to be working as couriers for movement of stolen funds by other cyber-criminals. They own companies with no fixed addresses, which they used to cover up the real sources of their money.  Items recovered from the suspects at the time of their arrest include laptops, handsets and phishing scripts, among others. They will soon be charged to court.More photos below.
