 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

Officials of the Gender Based Violence Response Team of the Vicar Hope Foundation, Umuahia, have rescued a 2-year old child locked up for several days in an uncompleted building at Zone 5, Agbama Housing Estate, Umuahia, Abia State capital... The child, found to be suffering from exhaustion,dehydration and malnourishment, was suspected to have been locked up by his parents. The Programme Manager, Vicar Hope Foundation, Mr Raymond Ukwa, who confirmed the incident, said that the organisation received a call on Saturday, April 25, from landlords in the area that a child had been locked up in an uncompleted building.     Mustapha Mohammed aka Mairutuwa, the leader of the kidnap gang that murdered Catholic seminarian, Michael Nnadi, of the Good Shepherd Major Seminary in Kaduna state in January 2020, has given a reason why he killed late Nnadi depsite collecting ransom from the seminary school. Recall that on January 9, some armed men stormed the Catholic seminary and kidnapped four seminarians, murdered one of them and released the remaining three on January 31 after they received a ransom from the seminary. The remains of the fourth seminarian, 18-year-old Micheal Nnadi, was found in a bush on February 2nd. He was buried on February 11th. In a chat with The Sun, Mustapha said from the day Nnadi was abducted, he kept preaching the gospel of Jesus to him and told him to his face to change his evil ways or perish.      The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Kaduna Zonal Office on April 29, 2020 secured the convictions of Idahosa Bobby and Aidamebor Israel for offences bordering on internet fraud. . . They were arraigned before Justice Mohammed Tukur of the State High Court sitting in Kaduna, Kaduna State. . . The convicts were each arraigned on separate one-count charge bordering on online fraud and for possession of fraudulent documents. . . Idahosa and Israel were arrested by a team of operatives attached to the Intelligence and Special Operations Section, ISOS following intelligence reports indicating their involvement in cybercrime.More photos below.
