 AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week.                 According to sources,President Goodluck Jonathan today tuesday,sacked Martin Luther Agwai,a retired General and former Chief of army staff,as Chairman of the Federal Government's Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowermemt Program {SURE-P}.Reuben Abati,the Special Adviser to president  on media and publicity,who made the announcement in a state did not give reasons for the removal of Agwai from office.He however said the president has approved the appointment of Ishaya Dare Akau,a former chairman of Kaduna state Universal Education Board and National Assembly Commission as the now Chairman of SURE-P.

CHIBOK COMMUNITY IN BORNO STATE,REJECTS F.G OFFER TO REBUILD THEIR SCHOOL.

              According to the Caretaker Chairman of the Chibok Council Area,Mallan Ba'ana Lawan,accused government of several broken promises regarding the rescue of the girls,since their abduction  in April.''It is disheartening to inform you that since  the abduction of these girls,the Federal Government did not bother to send delegations to Chibok to sympathize with the parents,instead the parents were invited to Abuja and conveyed in cargo military plane with no comfort what so ever.We still observed that recently,President Gooluck Jonathan visited Mubi and Baga,but failed to visit Chibok to sympathize with our people.We also observed that the President and Chief of Defence Staff,Air Vice Marshall Alex Badeh had severally promised that these girls will soon be released,but it is now more than 300 days,and nothing of such happened.We thank God and appreciate Governor Kashim Shettima and his wife,Nana Kashim Shettima who did not only visit...
