Kogi State Government is set to sue the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC ) for allegedly misleading a court to order freezing of its account with a new generation bank. Addressing journalists in Abuja, yesterday , the Commissioner for Information , Kingsley Fanwo , asked the EFCC to tender public apology to avoid such litigation . He described EFCC ’ s action as a huge embarrassment , insisting that the claims were false. The Lagos Division of the Federal High Court had , on Tuesday , ordered the freezing of the Kogi State salary bailout account domiciled in a commercial bank over an alleged N20 billion loan obtained from it. The judge who gave the order , Tijjani Ringim , said it would subsist pending the conclusion of investigation or possible prosecution by the EFCC.

A day after the sacking of two ministers by Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, it was rumored that one of the sacked Ministers, Sale Mamman had collapsed after receiving his resignation letter. According to reports, the ex-Minister of Power has been admitted to a hospital in the Nation's Capital, Abuja. Several online newspapers in Nigeria have cited the Minister's close associates as reliable sources. The former minister said he had been unwell since last weekend. "Even before this step was announced I was very unwell, because I did not even go to the office earlier this week." The former Minister said he had not been well enough for a long time because he often went to see a doctor on a regular basis. “So, yesterday (Wednesday) and today (Thursday) I also went back to the hospital for another round of check-up; and the doctor instructed that I needed some ‘rest’ so I remained at one place to rest,” he said. The Lagos State Government is set to commence demolition of structures along the Right of Way of Ikorodu roundabout on Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th September, 2021, in preparation for the junction improvement traffic diversion plan slated for midnight of Friday, 17th September, 2021. A statement signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, explained that the demolition will take place in phases, noting that the first phase will cover CAC Road junction to Ayangburen Road in the morning, while the second phase will cover AP Filling Station inwards Sabo in the afternoon on Monday. Oladeinde stated that on the second day, the demolition exercise will be carried out at the Sabo Police Station, Central Mosque, Conoil and Ayangburen Road from morning till afternoon. According to a release signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Princess Aderemi Adebowale, the creation of the department will aid the effective delivery of the mandates of the Office, especially community engagement and citizen inclusion in policies and programmes of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration. Nigeria’s federal government says it is making provision for the controversial fuel subsidy as part of its expenditure in the 2022 budget. This is according to the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari. This is even as President Muhammadu Buhari has signed Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), with the government planning to deregulate the downstream sector. The federal government is projecting N900 billion for fuel subsidy for 2022. Mr Kyari spoke on Thursday at MTEF/FSP hearing organised by the Senate Committee on Finance in Abuja.

EFCC Arrests 10 for Forex Scam in Kano The Kano Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have arrested ten suspected fraudsters for alleged involvement in forging travel documents to procure foreign exchange from commercial banks in Kano. The suspects were arrested following intelligence which indicated that a syndicate of fraudsters was perpetrating the crime around Fagge and Gwammaja areas of Kano State. They will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.

Lekki Now Hotbed of Cyber Crime – EFCC 402 suspects arrested in three months Lekki, the fast-developing upper middle class area of Lagos Metropolis, is emerging as the new hub of internet-related fraud. Data from the investigation activities of the Lagos Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for the second quarter of 2021, indicates that Lekki District is the preferred location for all manner of cyber fraud syndicates. Between April and June, 2021, the Advance Fee Fraud and Cyber Crime Sections of the Command recorded a total of 402 internet-related fraud arrests. While the Advance Fee Fraud Section was responsible for 243 arrests, the Cyber Crime Section executed 18 sting operations which resulted in 159 arrests, from which 13 convictions have so far been recorded. Of the 159 suspects arrested by the Cyber Crime Section, 70 are from Lekki, comprising communities such as Ajah, Badore, Victoria Garden City, Sangotedo and Oniru. Ajah accounted for 24 suspects, wh

  PRESS RELEASE 2ND SEPTEMBER, 2021 ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT NABBED, GUN, AMMUNITION RECOVERED IN LAGOS The Lagos State Police Command has again demonstrated its avowed commitment to providing robust safety and protection for the good people of Lagos State as a member of a notorious, dare- devil armed robbery gang was arrested in Bode Thomas area, Lagos State at about 2220hrs of 1/9/2021. The suspect, Olawale Samsudeen, 27, was arrested when he and two other members of the criminal gang attempted to rob a victim in his provisions shop at Eric Moore Close, Off Eric Moore Road, Bode Thomas. The victim, however, raised the alarm which attracted a police anti-crime patrol team on routine patrol in the area. The patrol team in a swift response, raced to the scene and with the assistance of members of the public arrested the suspect while two others escaped with the gang's operational motorcycle. Items recovered from the arrested suspect included a locally-made pistol and three cartridges.

Peeved by the unprofessional conduct of the officers as captured/revealed in the video, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, directed that the erring police officers should be identified and arrested immediately. In compliance with the directive, therefore, all the four police officers have been arrested and detained. They are currently facing disciplinary actions.
