Don Adinuba at  the GUO park in Awka. Recall that on August, 24, 2021, the State government had announced plans to evacuate ndi Anambra who are stranded in Jos. KOGI THREATENS TO SUE EFCC OVER CORRUPTION CLAIM.{PHOTO}.

Kogi State Government is set to sue the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC ) for allegedly misleading a court to order freezing of its account with a new generation bank. Addressing journalists in Abuja, yesterday , the Commissioner for Information , Kingsley Fanwo , asked the EFCC to tender public apology to avoid such litigation . He described EFCC ’ s action as a huge embarrassment , insisting that the claims were false. The Lagos Division of the Federal High Court had , on Tuesday , ordered the freezing of the Kogi State salary bailout account domiciled in a commercial bank over an alleged N20 billion loan obtained from it. The judge who gave the order , Tijjani Ringim , said it would subsist pending the conclusion of investigation or possible prosecution by the EFCC.

According to reports, the ex-Minister of Power has been admitted to a hospital in the Nation's Capital, Abuja. Several online newspapers in Nigeria have cited the Minister's close associates as reliable sources. The former minister said he had been unwell since last weekend. "Even before this step was announced I was very unwell, because I did not even go to the office earlier this week." Nigeria’s federal government says it is making provision for the controversial fuel subsidy as part of its expenditure in the 2022 budget. This is according to the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari. This is even as President Muhammadu Buhari has signed Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), with the government planning to deregulate the downstream sector. The federal government is projecting N900 billion for fuel subsidy for 2022. Mr Kyari spoke on Thursday at MTEF/FSP hearing organised by the Senate Committee on Finance in Abuja.

Lekki Now Hotbed of Cyber Crime – EFCC 402 suspects arrested in three months Lekki, the fast-developing upper middle class area of Lagos Metropolis, is emerging as the new hub of internet-related fraud. Data from the investigation activities of the Lagos Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for the second quarter of 2021, indicates that Lekki District is the preferred location for all manner of cyber fraud syndicates. Between April and June, 2021, the Advance Fee Fraud and Cyber Crime Sections of the Command recorded a total of 402 internet-related fraud arrests. While the Advance Fee Fraud Section was responsible for 243 arrests, the Cyber Crime Section executed 18 sting operations which resulted in 159 arrests, from which 13 convictions have so far been recorded. Of the 159 suspects arrested by the Cyber Crime Section, 70 are from Lekki, comprising communities such as Ajah, Badore, Victoria Garden City, Sangotedo and Oniru. Ajah accounted for 24 suspects, wh

  PRESS RELEASE 2ND SEPTEMBER, 2021 ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT NABBED, GUN, AMMUNITION RECOVERED IN LAGOS The Lagos State Police Command has again demonstrated its avowed commitment to providing robust safety and protection for the good people of Lagos State as a member of a notorious, dare- devil armed robbery gang was arrested in Bode Thomas area, Lagos State at about 2220hrs of 1/9/2021. The suspect, Olawale Samsudeen, 27, was arrested when he and two other members of the criminal gang attempted to rob a victim in his provisions shop at Eric Moore Close, Off Eric Moore Road, Bode Thomas. The victim, however, raised the alarm which attracted a police anti-crime patrol team on routine patrol in the area. The patrol team in a swift response, raced to the scene and with the assistance of members of the public arrested the suspect while two others escaped with the gang's operational motorcycle. Items recovered from the arrested suspect included a locally-made pistol and three cartridges.

In compliance with the directive, therefore, all the four police officers have been arrested and detained. They are currently facing disciplinary actions.
