  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Married Man Allegedly Impregnates JSS 2 Student In Minna Nigerian Philanthropist, Chigozie Effe has alleged that a security guard has impregnated a JSS 2 student of a Government Secondary school in Minna, Niger State, NaijaCover Reports. According To Effe, The Man had earlier reached out to him to pay for his child’s surgery and he helped the man raise N100,000. Taking To Facebook On Monday, October 17, Effe Wrote; "Baby Miracle : The burden of helping people. Remember baby miracle whose father ran to me begging to help him pay for his child’s surgery which was 100k?" "The story was shared here and a beautiful soul based in London paid for the surgery through me. Now the father of baby Miracle who is a security man and receives a small salary has succeeded in impregnating yet another JSS 2 student of a Government School in Minna Meanwhile, the mother of Miracle has left his house without trace. Nasarawa Assembly Votes In Favour Of LG Autonomy, Other Bills   ***  The Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA) has on Tuesday voted in favour of autonomy for Local Government in Nigeria.   Similarly, the House also voted in favour of legislature and judicial autonomy among other bills. This is coming six months after the transmission of the bills to states assembly by the National Assembly, 25 out of them were yet to vote on the bills. Governor Soludo Distributes Relief Materials To Flood Displaced Persons In Awka North. As part of measures to cushion the effects of flood disaster ravaging communities in Anambra State, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has sent food items to the affected persons in Awka North local government area. The relief materials were delivered through the local government transition committee chairman, Mr Emmanuel Ucheze. Awka North local government has three holding centers situated at Agueke primary school, Ugbenu, housing over 150 displaced persons, Central School Ugbene which has over 250 persons and Central School Awba-ofemili with over 500 displaced persons. The items include two live cows to each camp, bags of rice, beans, tubers of yam, bags of garri, onion, gallons of red and groundnut oil, among others. Over 2000 Persons Displaced By Flood In Nsugbe Community Seek Help From Government. It is no longer news that thousands of households , property and farm lands have been destroyed by this years flood disaster but more disheartening is the fact that some of those displaced by flood are on their own in make shift shelters they provided for themselves without help from anyone. Such was the condition of over 2,000 persons living in  various bushes in Nsugbe , Anambra East council area who are facing range of challenges especially hunger and starvation. Nsugbe is situated in an upland area of the state but one of the ten villages , Abba that make up the community situates very close to the Omabala river.  Because of it topography and terrain people from Nsugbe and neighbouring communities like Anam, Umueri, Igbariam settle as farmers especially where they have farm lands. Unknown Gunmen Kidnap Catholic Priest Rev. Fr. Joseph Igweagu In Onitsha Unknown Gunmen have abducted a Priest with the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha, Rev. Fr. Joseph Igweagu. The cleric who is the Parish Priest in charge of St Joseph’s Parish Abata Nsugbe, Anambra East Local Government Area of the state was said to have been abducted on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 while returning to his house after celebrating a Funeral Vigil Mass at Umunnachi in Njikoka Council area if the state. Peter Obi Reacts As LP Zonal Chairman Dies In Kaduna Auto Crash Labour Party Chairman, Peter Obi, has mourned the passing of one of the party’s Zonal Chairmen in Kaduna State, Mallam Lawal Garba. Garba lost his life in a fatal auto crash along the Kaduna-Zaria road on Monday. He was on his way back from the party’s engagement with Northern stakeholders in Arewa House, Kaduna, on Monday. Reacting, Peter Obi in a tweet on Tuesday expressed shock over his death and prayed that his soul rests in peace. ”I’m shocked by the news of the sudden and tragic death of Mallam Lawal Garba last night in a fatal vehicular accident. Mallam Garba was in attendance at the Arewa House interactive session. ”His death is a huge loss to his family, the Labour Party family in Kaduna State and the Kaduna people. ”I pray for the peaceful repose of his soul and that God Almighty will grant his family the fortitude to bear this huge loss.”

Nigerian Soldiers Accuse Army Commander In Kaduna Of Corruption, Diversion Of Allowances Army Some personnel attached to 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna State, have accused their Commanding Officer (CO) of corruption and financial mismanagement. Kogi Court Jails ‘Yahoo Boy’ 5years for N56.3m Fraud A Kogi State High Court sitting in Lokoja has sentenced 23-year-old Yusuf Salawu, from Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State to five years imprisonment without option of fine over offences bordering on control of proceeds of crime. Justice Josiah Majebi found Yusuf guilty of one count charge preferred against him by the Ilorin Zonal Command of the EFCC.

EFCC Arrests 15 Suspected internet Fraudsters in Abuja  The EFCC on Tuesday, 18 October, 2022, arrests fifteen suspected internet fraudsters. They were arrested during a sting operation at the River Park Estate, Lugbe, Abuja, after a credible intelligence on their alleged criminal activities. The suspects are Ameh Sunday, Emanuel Akorede, Olamide Abdulwasiu Abdullahi, Akinola Samuel, Segun George, Adaka Joseph and Odaka Desmond. Others include Timilehin Adegbola, Atowodu Olaoluwa, Abiodun Samuel, Martins Richard, Pabor Nathan Austen, Israel Kue, Ezeobi Francis and Mpokor Emmanuel. Items recovered from them include six exotic cars, Laptops and mobile phones.
