 Outcries Over State Recognised Vigilantes In North-West   The security outfits established by various state governments, especially in the North-West, are being accused of indiscriminate arrests and killing of suspects, as well as innocent people without recourse to judicial processes, findings by Daily Trust Saturday revealed. But those charged with the responsibility of managing the outfits have debunked the claims of extrajudicial killings, though some admitted what they described as “overzealousness” by some of the operatives. It was alleged that in some states, long lists of suspected bandits, their supporters or sympathisers have been arrested and ultimately killed, and such acts are allegedly being carried out without recourse to the police and other law enforcement agencies. Man Arraigned for Land Scam in Kano The EFCC on May 10, 2022, arraigned one Danladi Abba before Justice Zuwaira Yusuf of the Kano State High Court on a one count charge of conversion of funds.  The defendant allegedly sold a property entrusted to him by the complainant and diverted the proceeds to personal use. Abba sometime in 2018, being entrusted with property (land) of one Makanjuola Faniyi without his consent sold the said property and converted the money and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 311 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 312of the same Law.

Court Jails Two Internet Fraudsters in Calabar A  Federal High Court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State,  has sentenced Ojinnaka Malachy and Michael Kenneth Goodluck to one year imprisonment each,  for  internet-related offences. They were jailed on Tuesday,  May 10, 2022, after pleading guilty to  one -count separate charge bordering on impersonation and obtaining by false pretence, preferred against them by the Uyo Zonal Command of the EFCC.

San Mateo County District Attorney Stephen M. Wagstaffe has announced the former heavyweight champion will not face charges after he was seen attacking an overzealous fan aboard a taxiing airplane in California last month.  As Wagstaffe said in a statement, his office declined to file misdemeanor battery charges because of 'the conduct of the victim leading up to the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of both the victim and Mr. Tyson.' In a video that ultimately went viral, Tyson was seen punching a man repeatedly aboard a Florida-bound airplane on April 20 and leaving him with cuts on his forehead. The victim, later identified as 36-year-old Melvin George Townsend III, allegedly threw a bottle at Tyson and had been seen pestering the 55-year-old boxing legend prior to take off. 2023: Court Rejects CBN Governor Emefiele's Application To Contest Without Resigning  A Federal High Court in Abuja has refused the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele’s request to restrain the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) Abubakar Malami preventing him from his Presidential Ambition. The CBN Governor on Monday told the Court in Abuja that he can run for the post of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria without vacating his position as the CBN Governor. The CBN Governor through his Counsel, Mike Ozekhome, told the court that Section 84 ((12) of the Electoral Act as amended, 2022 does not affect him, being a public servant and not a political appointee. The court in its ruling, however, summoned INEC, and AGF to appear before it on May 12, to show cause on why status quo antebellum, should not be granted to the CBN Governor.

Jonathan Rejects APC Presidential Form Purchased By Miyetti Allah, Says Is An Insult  Former President Goodluck Jonathan has rejected the presidential form of the All Progressives Congress purchased for him on Monday by a group of his supporters from the north.
