 LASG REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO END TUBERCULOSIS IN COMMUNITIES IN LAGOS STATE The Lagos State Government on Tuesday reaffirmed its commitment to completely eradicate Tuberculosis (TB) at the grassroots level across the metropolis.  The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health District III, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke made this known during a courtesy visit by the Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria team to her Ikoyi office, emphasising the present administration's commitment to continually prioritise health security across the state. She said the Lagos State First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Sanwo-Olu, is a Tuberculosis (TB) champion with the mandate of ending TB now and the continuous expansion of TB scale-up diagnostic centres.  According to her, “The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Sanwo-Olu is a TB champion.       Today, being Wednesday, December 11, 2019, I sponsored a Bill for the upgrade of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Orumba-North to Federal University of Technology Oko. Undoubtedly, the existence of a sound and robust educational sector in any country is anchored on the availability of viable academic institutions and well tr ained teachers to impart requisite knowledge. Hence, the need to establish more institutions in our academic sector to continually produce more qualified and globally competitive youths as obtainable in other developed countries all over the world. The primary objective of this university is to produce qualified graduates with capabilities not only to understand the technological needs of Nigeria as a nation but also to exploit existing technological infrastructure and improve on them to develop new ones.           The trial of Abdulrasheed Maina, former Chairman, Pensions Reform Task Team, and his son, Faisal continued on December 11, 2019 before Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja as the EFCC presented more witnesses against them. Testifying as the second prosecution witness, PW2, against Maina, Fatima Abdulahi, a civil servant residing in Kaduna, acknowledged that Maina was her older brother. Under examination, she narrated how in August 2019, she went to an Automated Transfer Machine, ATM to withdraw from her Access-Diamond Bank account, but was unable to achieve her aim.
