OYO RESTRICTS MOVEMENT ON SATURDAY FROM 6AM-4PM.(PHOTO).

 Oyo restricts movement on Saturday from 6am – 4pm Movement would be restricted for the duration of Saturday’s local government election in Oyo State, the State Government announced on Friday evening. The restriction will help officials of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) to conduct the poll without hindrance. Election would hold into councillorship and chairmanship positions in the 33 local government areas of the State between 8 am and 3 pm. In an update on its verified ‘x’ handle on Friday evening, it said: “Please note this important announcement regarding movement restrictions in Oyo State on Saturday 27, April 2024 “The Oyo State Government has declared total restriction of movement tomorrow, Saturday, 27th of April 2024, the restriction will be in place from 0600 hours to 1600 hours. “Only providers of essential services are exempted from these restrictions.”

DEPORTED NIGERIAN MAN RE-ARRESTED IN THAILAND AFTER SNEAKING BACK IN A Nigerian man, Harrison Chinonso Onyema, was arrested on Wednesday after sneaking back into Thailand through water after being deported from the country for possessing cocaine.  According to Thailand Post English, the 40-year-old Onyema was arrested by the Phuket Immigration and Chalong police station team on Wednesday in Phuket, for illegal entry. The report stated that the police searched Onyema's apartment but did not find anything illegal on the premises. On checking his ID card, it was discovered that the suspect had been arrested for possessing drugs and overstaying in 2018 and deported. It added, ” Mr Harrison had been arrested for a Type 2 narcotic (cocaine) case and had been in the Kingdom in excess, causing him to be deported many years ago but secretly escaped into Thailand again through the natural border checkpoint on the Cambodian border." Why There’s Shortage Of Nigerian Passport – Official The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has named the policies of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as one of the reasons for the scarcity of passport booklets In the country. The Comptroller-General of NIS, Idris Jere, disclosed this on Tuesday while appearing before an ad hoc committee of the House of Representatives investigating the production of passport booklets in Nigeria. Mr Jere noted that major components for producing booklets are sourced from overseas, hence the need for foreign exchange (forex) from the CBN. EFCC Arrests, Detains Ex-Minister Of Power, Mamman Under Buhari For N22billion Fraud Sale Mamman, a former Minister of Power, has been arrested and detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection with an alleged N22 billion fraud. Mamman, who was minister under President Muhammadu Buhari from 2019 to 2021, was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday and is being detained at the headquarters of the anti-graft agency in Abuja, sources revealed. The arrest is connected to investigations into alleged corruption in the execution of some power projects. Mamman is accused of conspiring with staff of the ministry in charge of the accounts of the Zungeru and Mambilla Hydro Electric Power projects to divert N22 billion and share among themselves.

Ken Nnamani.  Lady Jane Amechi Nnamani, who died in Enugu after a brief illness, was aged 58. The speaker described the Late Mrs Nnamani as a great mother, a philanthropist and a community leader, whose influence extended beyond her family and community. Gbajabiamila sent his deepest condolences to the family of Sen. Nnamani, the people and the Government of Enugu State.  He equally prayed to God to give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Justice Y.A. Adesanya (Mrs.), in Suit No. LD/21505C/2023 – The State of Lagos Vs Frederick Nkemdilim Nwanjago. The Defendant was arraigned for the offences of attempting to do Acts of Terrorism under Section 403(2) of the Criminal law of Lagos State, 2015; Participation in Terrorism Meeting to Support a Proscribed Entity, Attempt to finance an Act of Terrorism, Preparation to Commit an Act of Terrorism under Sections 12(c), 18, 21, 29 & 12(a) of the Terrorism (Prevention & Prohibition) Act, 2022, amongst others. The Defendant pleaded Not Guilty to all nine counts. The matter was adjourned to the 4th and 5th of July, 2023 for trial.

The defendant allegedly diverted a credit facility granted to him by his bank for the purchase of shares, and which was to be repaid within 180 days, for personal use.
