OYO RESTRICTS MOVEMENT ON SATURDAY FROM 6AM-4PM.(PHOTO).

 Oyo restricts movement on Saturday from 6am – 4pm Movement would be restricted for the duration of Saturday’s local government election in Oyo State, the State Government announced on Friday evening. The restriction will help officials of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) to conduct the poll without hindrance. Election would hold into councillorship and chairmanship positions in the 33 local government areas of the State between 8 am and 3 pm. In an update on its verified ‘x’ handle on Friday evening, it said: “Please note this important announcement regarding movement restrictions in Oyo State on Saturday 27, April 2024 “The Oyo State Government has declared total restriction of movement tomorrow, Saturday, 27th of April 2024, the restriction will be in place from 0600 hours to 1600 hours. “Only providers of essential services are exempted from these restrictions.”

        His Royal Highness was greeted by the Regiment's buglers and their mascot Private Derby XXXII, before meeting soldiers and presenting medals to those who have recently returned from Iraq and South Sudan. EFCC ARRESTS DISMISSED POLICEMAN POSING AS EFCC STAFF. {PHOTO}.

       Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC have arrested a former Constable of the Nigeria Police posturing as a bonafide staff of the Commission.   The suspect, David Lohbut Nimdul, was arrested in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Nimdul was reported to the Commission by a petitioner who alleged that he was introduced to him as an EFCC Staff. Based on the introduction, he requested Nimdul to assist in  the recovery of a loan of N15,300,000.00k( Fifteen Million, Three Hundred Thousand Naira only) he offered one Patience Amaewhule, a banker with an old generation bank in Port Harcourt. The banker allegedly obtained the loan from him and promised to pay back in 120 days. However, she failed to keep faith with the promise and Nimdul came on the scene to assist in the recovery of the loan. To demonstrate to the petitioner that he was indeed an EFCC's Staff, Nimdul allegedly went with the petitioner to Amaewhule's office to arrest her. SUPREME COURT THROWS OUT METUH'S APPEAL SEEKING TO STOP N400M FRAUD TRIAL.

      The Supreme Court on Friday, February 9, 2018 dismissed the appeal by the former spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh, seeking to halt his trial over alleged money laundering and fraud. Metuh is standing trial alongside his company, Destra Investment Limited, on a 7-count charge bordering on money laundering to the tune of N400million, a sum he allegedly collected from the Offi ce of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, ahead of the 2015 general election.He is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.Justice Okon Abang, had in March 2016, while ruling on Metuh’s no-case submission held that he “has a case to answer in the 7-count charge of fraud preferred against him and his company by the EFCC”.Dissatisfied, Metuh approached the Court of Appeal asking it to upturn the ruling of the trial court and stay further proceedings on the matter pending the determination of the interlocutory appeal.The Court of Appeal in May 2016 u

NIGERIAN ARMY ARRESTED A MAN WITH ARMS & AMMUNITIONS DURING A STOP & SEARCH YESTERDAY AT MARABA.{PHOTOS}

         Troops of Guards Brigade Nigerian Army, deployed at Mararaba, Nasarawa state for Internal Security Operations have arrested a man with arms and ammunitions during a stop and search operation at the checkpoint on Thursday 8th February 2018. The Suspect who gave his name as Mr Peter Iorlaha was apprehended with a bag containing 2 Locally made pistols, 1 locally made short gun, 2 rounds of 7.62mm (Special), 5 live cartridges, 2 torch lights , a screw driver, charms and a Tecno mobile handset. During preliminary investigation, the suspect revealed that the weapons and other items were handed over to him by his uncle for safe keeping. The suspect is currently under interrogation. AMBODE SIGNS SEVEN CRITICAL BILLS INTO LAW+TO PROVIDE 24-HOUR POWER SUPPLY,PROTECT YORUBA LANGUAGE.{PHOTO}.

       Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Thursday signed seven important bills into law among which is the law to guarantee 24-hour power supply in line with the vision to attain a 24-hour economy and make the State globally competitive. The Laws are Lagos State Electric Power Reform Law, Amended Land Use Charge Law, School of Nursing Law, Cooperative College Law, Cancer Research Institute Law, Amended Customary Court Law and the Yoruba Language Preservation and Promotion Law Speaking on the import of the new laws, the State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Adeniji Kazeem said the development was a great day for the State as it signpost the commencement of the journey to further advance the dividends of democracy to the people. He said: “This is a great day; the Governor has just signed these bills into law and this shows that the House of Assembly is working in tandem with the Executive. It also shows that Lagos is working. These laws are goin
