      A large gathering of Muslim and Christian Clerics, Wednesday, came together to pray for the First Family and Lagos State as a whole. The gathering, made up of several persons from various denominations, drawn from various parts of the State was put together in order to commit the State into the hands of the Almighty as the State begins a New Year.       Wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu today welcomed and presented gifts items to the first babies of the year in four state owned health facilities namely Ijede General Hospital, Agbowa General Hospital, Ketu-Ejirin General Hospital and Lagos Island Maternity Hospital. Baby Agede, a male who weighed 2kg delivered at exactly 12.01a.m. by Mrs. Bukola Agede is the first baby of the year at Ijede General Hospital. Another baby, a female who weighed 3.1kg delivered at 12.07am by Mrs. Beauty Agbor is the first baby of the year in Agbowa General Hospital. Also, baby Kazeem, a boy, who weighed 3kg and delivered at 1.40a.m. to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Kazeem is the first baby of the year at Ketu-Ejirin General Hospital while the first baby of the year at the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital is baby Momoh.        Pained and remorseful mother of Adeeko Owolabi, Mrs Bola Adeeko, who was arrested by detectives from Mowe Division of the Ogun State Police Command along with her son, Owolabi 23, and a white garment church pastor, Segun Philip, in connection with the gruesome killing of Miss Favour Daley – Oladele for ritual purposes, has disclosed that she was lured into the crime of ritual murder without kn owing. Bola also revealed that she never knew the concoction served her and which she ate, was prepared with Favour’s heart, breasts and other vital organs, saying she even vomited hours after eating the strange preparation from Pastor Segun Philip.        Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has signed the State’s N1.168 Trillion 2020 Budget into law. The Governor assented to the Appropriation Bill at a short ceremony held in Alausa on Tuesday, pledging that the State would be open and accountable in the implementation of the budget. At the budget-signing event attended by members of the Executive Council and House of Assembly, Sanwo-Olu described the ratified expenditure as a “New Year present” to all residents of the State, saying his administration’s efforts to deliver a ’Greater Lagos’ had gained additional momentum. He said: “Now is the time for members of the State’s Executive Council who will be implementing this budget to demonstrate their tenacity to the vision of achieving Lagos of our dreams. LASG ANNOUNCES ROAD CLOSURE ALONG AGEGE MOTOR ROAD AXIS FOR RAILWAY MODERNISATION PROJECT.#PRESS RELEASE.

The Lagos State Government has announced that the Adejobi axis of Agege Motor Road will be closed on the 4th of January, 2020 from 6.00pm to 12.00pm the next day for activities related to the modernisation project of the Lagos-Ibadan section as well as its extension to Lagos Port/Apapa rail tracks at the Level Crossing. A statement issued by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation app ealed to residents, especially motorists plying the corridor to bear the pains, noting that the project is aimed at achieving a seamless multi-modal transport system in the State. According to the statement, alternative routes have been provided for road users during the course of construction, including Ashade Underpass and Fagba Crossing, to ensure motorists reach their various destinations with ease. The release said the government is taking steps to create proper road infrastructure that will ultimately improve the traffic situation and facilitate the free flow of traffic within the State.

       Security strategies put in place by the Lagos State Government has yielded fruits with the reduction in the spate of crime in the State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu disclosed on Tuesday. Sanwo-Olu said some of the security challenges inherited by his administration at inception had been largely contained, but said his Government was not resting on its oars to keep the State safe for business and living. The Governor made the disclosure after the State’s final Security Council meeting in the year. After the meeting held behind closed doors in Alausa, Sanwo-Olu led members of the Council to brief the State House reporters about security actions to be taken by the Government in the coming New Year. Sanwo-Olu said incessant kidnapping was part of the security challenges facing the State when he took over the leadership in May 2019.
