  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.   European Countries Restart Use of Astrazeneca Today The European Medical Agency (EMA) released the findings of its report examining cases of blood clotting, it determined that the AstraZeneca vaccine is not associated with higher risk of blood clots. Following a thorough and scientific investigation, the EMA reaffirmed the vaccine is safe and effective. Countries across Europe including Germany, France and Spain are today resuming administering the AstraZeneca vaccine.   A Sokoto State High Court, sitting in Sokoto, today remanded Lukuman Sani Waziri, a former Accountant with the Finance Department of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto in prison custody, pending the determination of his bail application. This followed his arraignment by the Sokoto Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on one count charge of obtaining money by false pretense to the tune of N249,984,847.62 (Two hundred and forty nine million, nine hundred and eighty four thousand, eight hundred and forty seven naira, sixty two kobo). The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him. In view of his plea, prosecution counsel, S.H Sa’ad asked for a trial date and that the defendant to be remanded in prison custody. But the defense counsel, J.   Police operatives attached to Makinde Police Station, Osodi, in Lagos have arrested a 28-year-old man identified as Jane Otubo, of No 3, Eniola Street, Mafoluku, Osodi, for allegedly engaging in the act of homosexuality. A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, Ademuyiwa Adejobi, says the suspect, a foodstuff trader who hails from Enugu State had invited one Francis Azeez, m, who resides at Gwagwalada Area of Abuja, and paid for his transportation fare to his place in Mafoluku, promising to assist him to establish a business.   The Lagos state police command has arrested a suspected serial rapist, Onuorah Obi, pictured above, a resident of No 1, Buari Oloto Street, Ago Okota. Confirming his arrest to newsmen, Ademuyiwa Adejobi spokesperson of the state police command, said Obi was arrested on March 17 after his victim who lives in the same environment, reported that the suspect raped her and recorded her nude pictures and videos.  ''The police swung into action and arrested the suspect. When a search was conducted on his phone, nude pictures and videos of the victim were recovered from the phone.''Ademuyiwa said He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu has condemned these heinous acts of the suspect and ordered that the matter be transferred to the Gender Unit of the command for further investigation and prosecution.

  KDSG Security Update: Friday 19th March 2021 Bandits kill 13, injure 7 in Zangon Kataf, Kauru and Chikun local government areas. - 56 houses, 16 motorcycles razed in Kauru LGA Thirteen people have been killed and seven others injured, in a series of attacks across communities in Zangon Kataf, Kauru and Chikun local government areas. This was reported to the Kaduna State Government by the Military under the auspices of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH). According to the report, armed bandits attacked one Irmiya Godwin and his brother as they returned from their farm in Gora Gan village of Zangon Kataf LGA. Irmiya Godwin was killed, while his brother escaped. In another incident, armed bandits attacked Kizachi village of Kauru LGA, and killed ten persons, leaving four others injured.   Troops from 1 Division Nigerian Army, Kaduna, on Wednesday 17 March, 2021, successfully rescued 10 persons who were recently kidnapped from their quarters at Kaduna International Airport. The rescue operation was without any mishap or casualty. The rescue operation happened when the troops who were patrolling one of the forests in Kaduna came in contact with the kidnappers and their victims. On sighting the soldiers, the bandits opened fire, prompting the troops to decisively engage them. With a superior fire power, troops soon overwhelmed them and they were forced to abandon their victims and take to their heels. The victims comprising one man, three women and six children were immeadiately evacuated to a military facility where they are currently undergoing medical check.
