 STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE   President Tinubu Reconstitutes the Board of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission   President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of the Board of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), following the Senate's confirmation of its members on December 16.   Members of the reconstituted Board are:   • Mulisiu Olalekan Oseni, PhD. — Chairman   Dr Oseni started his service as a Commissioner in January 2017. He was subsequently appointed Vice Chairman of the Commission.   His appointment as Chairman took effect from 1 December 2025 and shall subsist until the completion of his ten-year tenure at the Commission, in accordance with the provisions of the Electricity Act, 2023.   • Yusuf Ali, PhD. — Vice Chairman   Dr Ali was first appointed as a Commissioner in February 2022. A POLICE CORPORAL,WHO SHOT A WOMAN TO DEATH IN ISHERI OSHUN LAGOS,WILL BE CHARGED TOMORROW TO COURT.

                  Today thursday,it was reported that a police Corporal who allegedly shot a woman to death yesterday wednesday at Isheri Oshun,will be arraigned tomorrow friday.The Commissioner of Police Lagos,Mr Fatai Owoseni,made the disclosure while briefing newsmen on the activities of the command today thursday in Ikeja.Owoseni said that the Corporal attached to Isheri Oshun Police Division in Lagos had been arrested and was already undergoing disciplinary action.Owoseni said the incident happened on yesterday wednesday while her husband and four children were going home with their tricycle {Keke}.He said the corporal allegedly opened fire on the tricycle killing the woman on the spot,while the husband,children and the rider sustained bullet wounds.''As i speak with you,the corporal has been arrested and undergoing necessary disciplinary action according to the rule in the force.He will be charged to court on friday for murder.This will...

100 DEAD,50 INJURED AS A FUEL TANKER EXPLODED IN SOUTH SUDAN YESTERDAY.

                      Yesterday wednesday more than 100 people were killed in South Sudan after an oil truck exploded as a crowed tried to gather fuel from the vehicle after it had veered off the road .According to Charles Kisagna,the minister of information in Western Equatoria,said 50 people were seriously injured.''We don't have medical equipment and these people may not survive because we do not have the facilities to treat the highly burnt people.The truck had been traveling from the capital Juba to the Western Equatoria area.Such incidents have happened before in the east African region where fuel tankers often have to travel long distances along potholed roads and pass through poor communities''.

         Ejire Lale the son of the V.C of the University of Port-Harcourt {Ndowa Lale} ,who was kidnapped on monday in Agbeta Ebuu,Eleme Local Government Area of the state,where he went to supervise work on his fish pond.A group of six armed men stormed the place around 7:30pm after robbing a neighbour within the compound and took him away on foot.The information i just got is that he has been released by his abductors.We thank God for that.

3 MEN WERE ARRESTED BY THE EFCC YESTERDAY,FOR FRAUD & BLACKMAIL.

               Yesterday wednesday,officers from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC,arrested 3 men identified as Yskubu Dankaba {akabYakubu Hamisu},Yahaya Baba and Usman Abdukhakeen {aka Chairman} at Area3 of Garki District,Abuja for their involvement in a N20 million blacking scheme.The suspects allegedly posed as operatives of the EFCC with the aim of extorting N20 million from the FCT Water Board director.They had written a letter,purported to be from the EFCC,and notified him of  being under investigation.They however,offered to help him quash the investigation,if he could part with the sum of N20 million.Suspecting that he was about to be swindled,the director alerted the EFCC,which swung into action,caught the three suspects in their own web of tricks.They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed.
