     The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has announced a dusk-to-dawn curfew effective from tomorrow, April 20, 2020, prohibiting the movement of people throughout the state from 7pm to 6am, as part of measures to halt the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state. Obaseki, who disclosed this in a broadcast, noted that the order will be reviewed after 10 days, when increased screening and testing of citizens in the state must have been achieved. The curfew, according to the governor, is part of additional measures to ensure that people stay at home and prevent further spread of the infectious disease. “We realise we need to do more social distancing at this time. Therefore, we are taking additional measures to ensure that people stay at home. Consequently, with effect from tomorrow 20th April an order prohibiting movement of people in Edo State from 7pm to 6am.       In order to increase COVID-19 testing capacity in Lagos, the State Government has set up sampling stations in the 20 local government areas of the State for citizens, who fit the case definition of COVID-19, to visit and drop samples for testing. Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi stated this today at a Press Briefing to give situation report on COVID-19 in Lagos, noting that the strategy is geared towards bringing COVID-19 testing opportunity closer to the people as well as taking work strain off health workers who visit several local governments for case search and sample collection. He had come to do a degree in sociology. I had a pending application to do Law at Cambridge and when the result of that application came and it was positive, I left Warwick during the second semester. But my five months at Warwick was enough to build a strong friendship with Abba that lasted till his passing. Almost 43 years! There was a small group of Nigerians at Warwick then, which included former President Yakubu Gowon (who was doing a PhD in Political Science) ; Senator Osereihmi Osunbor (former Senator and Governor); Sitonye Roy Wakama (former Deputy Inspector General of Police) and the lawyer, Desmond Guobadia.        The Rivers State Government on Sunday released the 22 Staff of Exxon Mobil who were arrested for violating the State Executive Order restricting movement in the state. Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Rivers State, Professor Zaccheus Adangor said that the mobil staff were released without charges. The Attorney-General said the State Government will no longer press charges against them. He said that they were released following interventions by well-meaning Nigerians.      A spokesman for Bill Cosby said Saturday the imprisoned comedian and actor wouldn't survive if he contracts coronavirus behind bars. Andrew V. Wyatt said in a statement that Cosby, 82, recently had partially blocked arteries, is blind from glaucoma, takes medication for high blood pressure and recently had two major surgeries to prevent cardiovascular failure. Cosby was convicted in 2008 of aggravated indecent assault against Andrea Constand in 2004.He is serving his three-to 10-years sentence in a Pennsylvania state prison.      Following enquiries on the passing away of the Chief of Staff to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mallam Abba Kyari on Friday 17th April 2020, the Lagos State Government states that: Mallam Abba Kyari died from complications of Coronavirus infection at First Cardiology Consultants in Lagos. This hospital is a Lagos State designated high care, biosecu rity-compliant, COVID-19 facility, accredited by the Health Facility Management and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA) of the Lagos State Ministry of Health. As a basis for accreditation, First Cardiology Consultants established a separate specialist wing with staff dedicated to the treatment of complicated cases of COVID-19, under the supervision of the Lagos State COVID-19 emergency response team.

      Kano state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has relieved the appointment of the commissioner of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Mu’azu Magaji with immediate effect. A statement signed by the commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba said the commissioner was removed following his unguarded utterances against the person of the late Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari. He said as a public servant, the commissioner ought to have respect the profanity of the office by refraining from any act capable of rendering the office to disrepute. The action of a public servant, personal or otherwise reflects back on the government and therefore, the Ganduje administration would not tolerate people in official capacities engaging in personal vendetta or otherwise.
