 Outcries Over State Recognised Vigilantes In North-West   The security outfits established by various state governments, especially in the North-West, are being accused of indiscriminate arrests and killing of suspects, as well as innocent people without recourse to judicial processes, findings by Daily Trust Saturday revealed. But those charged with the responsibility of managing the outfits have debunked the claims of extrajudicial killings, though some admitted what they described as “overzealousness” by some of the operatives. It was alleged that in some states, long lists of suspected bandits, their supporters or sympathisers have been arrested and ultimately killed, and such acts are allegedly being carried out without recourse to the police and other law enforcement agencies.           The Lagos State Government today sunday commiserated with the famiilies of four Police Officers and one Army Captain that lost their lives in Ishawo area of Ikorodu after an ambush unleashed on them by militants.The gallant officers were killed after successfully rescuing kidnapped victims kept in the riverine area by the militants.In a reaction issued on sunday by the State's Commissioner for Information and Strategy,Mr Steve Ayorinde,the government described the incident as unfortunate but insisted that it would only strengthen its resolve to root crime and criminalities out of the State.The statement said Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was deeply touched and condoled with the families and loved ones of the departed officers.''The Governor,however,assures the Police and general public of his support and commitment to rid the State of every form of militancy,kidnappings,and illegal waterfront shanties that harbour criminals,'' Ayoorinde said.                 The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,Lagos zone,on friday evening uncovered yet another large sum of suspected laundered money to the of N448,850,00 {Four hundred and forty eight million,eight hundred and fifty thousand naira} only in a shop at LEGICO Shopping Plaza,Ahmadu Bello Way,Victoria Island,Lagos.The money stashed in several Ghana Must Go bags were in N500 and N1000 denominations,hidden in a shop awaiting conversion into foreign currency.Relying on information provided by a concerned whistle blower,operatives of the Commission swooped on the shopping complex and sought the identity of the owners of two shops,LS 64 and LS 67 which were under locks and keys.The shops had signages of Burea de Change.Inquries about the owner of shop 64 indicated he had not been seen for a long time,as they claimed the shop had not been opened for business for close to two years.Several calls were put to the owner of shop 67 but there was no response.The attention of the plaz

A WOMAN WAS MURDERED IN COLD BLOOD ON FRIDAY AT MGBAKWU AWKA NORTH.{GRAPHIC PHOTOS}.

               Tragedy struck on friday morning the 7th of April 2017 in Mgbakwwu when a middle-aged woman was hacked to death by a man who is believed to be a mentally deranged person.The horrific incident occurred in the Umudiani area of Mgbakwu,in Awka North LGA of Anambra State has thrown residents and indigenes of the community into mourning and anguish.According to eyewitnesses,the deceased met her untimely death in the early hours of the morning while she was hawking pap {corn starch popularly known as akamu} when her killer accosted her.The killer known in the area by the name Ezeamunsu Mmadubueze hacked the deceased down by dealing several blows on her with a machete killing her instantly.This angered some residents in the area who descended on the assailant and meted jungle-justice on him by tying him up,slashed his back with the same machete and setting him ablaze.The murdered woman whose aged husband is bling was said to be the bread-winner of the family and a devout member
