The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Governor Chukwuma Soludo has reassured that his administration will champion massive youth empowerment, job and wealth creation to accelerate economic growth and development in the state. Governor Soludo stated this while flagging off an intensive empowerment program tagged "One Youth,Two Skills" at the Anambra International Convention Center, Awka. CBN to release re-designed Naira notes December The Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has announced that the bank would release re-designed Naira notes by December 15, 2022. He also said that existing notes would seize to be regarded as legal tender by January 31, 2023. Emefiele disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday. The CBN said that it is worrisome that 85 per cent of the currency in circulation is being hoarded by Nigerians. He further urged Nigerians to proceed to their banks to deposit their Naira notes, adding that the deposit fee would be waived for transactions below N150,000. Emefiele added that the redesigning of Naira notes would help to curb counterfeit notes, as well as hamper ramson payment to terrorists and kidnappers.

Anambra Man, Ufodike Appointed Deputy Minister in Canada Anambra Canadian based entrepreneur, academic, finance executive and politician, Akolisa Ufodike has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Trade, Immigration and Multiculturalism in Alberta, ANAMBRA PEOPLE reports. The 49-year-old was born in Maiduguri, Nigeria to the family of Colonel Leonard Ufodike and Ebele Ufodike of Umudim and Otolo, Nnewi. Accident Opposite Fidelity Bank, Close to Regina Junction, Awka A 911 Truck fully loaded with tubers of Yam just fell inside a gutter opposite the Fidelity Bank that's is close to Regina Caeli Junction Awka the capital of Anambra State.  This has caused a little go-slow from Crunchies down to Regina Junction. It is suspected that the owner of the Yam quickly came to the accident venue and started auctioning the goods immediately while using another mini truck to trans-load the ones it can carry.  As you can see in the video, passerbys are utilizing the opportunity to get yams they can take home because the owner completely made it cheap and affordable.  Watch video below and more photos below.

Traffic robber was arrested after dispossessing motorist of valuables The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has revealed that a traffic robber was arrested at Otedola bridge in the early hours of Wednesday. The Lagos police spokesperson on his Twitter page added that the thief was arrested and dangerous items were recovered from him, including a locally fabricated toy guy. Hundeyin added that investigations were already ongoing. “Investigation is ongoing.” In the picture of the thief posted by Hundeyin, hand gloves, screwdrivers and a lighter could be seen as the suspect knelt down in the Lagos police custody.

The Police Command in Cross River has confirmed the recovery of the lifeless body of a middle-aged lady in a hotel at State Housing in Calabar. The command spokesperson, Irene Ugbo, told journalists that hotel staff members found the body in one of the rooms early this week. She said the identity of the deceased was yet to be ascertained. Ms Ugbo said the lady and a male friend had checked into the hotel on Saturday night. According to her, the unidentified male guest left early in the morning under the guise that he was going to withdraw money from the ATM but failed to come back three hours later. She, however, said seven staff of the hotel had been arrested for interrogation. “We arrested them because we need them to produce the contact of their guest in a bid to get to the root of the matter,” she explained. POLICE ARRESTS GANG NOTORIOUS FOR STEALING AND DISMANTLING CARS FOR SPARE PARTS SALES  Operatives of Ijora Badia Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested four suspects who specialize in stealing vehicles and dismantling them for onward sales as spare parts. OGUN POLICE ARRESTS FOUR NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS. 26/10/2022. Operatives of Ogun state Police Command in the early hours of Monday 24th of October 2022, arrested four notorious armed robbery suspects, who specialized in snatching motorcycle from owners at gun point. The suspects, 20 years old Muhammad Adamu, 22 years old Okacha Alidu, 28 years old Yusuf Mohammed and 20 years old Muniru Sunmaila were arrested following a distress call received at Ajuwon Police Divisional Headquarters at about 3:00 a.m, that the suspects were operating and had attacked one Sunday Doile at Onibudo area of Akute and snatched his Bajaj motorcycle on gun point.
