The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. LATE MONARCH'S WIFE TO DIE BY HANGING IN NASARAWA STATE.

     LAFIA— The wife of a first class traditional ruler in Nasarawa State, Amina Zubairu, has been sentenced to death by hanging for killing her husband by the State High Court sitting in Lafia. In her judgment yesterday, Justice Aisha Bashir said that the accused was found guilty of culpable homicide and sentenced her to death by hanging. The late Alhaji Adamu Zubairu until his death in February 2014 was the traditional ruler or the ‘Gom Mama’ of Kwarra chiefdom in Wamba local government area of the state. According to the Police, the circumstances leading to the death of the traditional ruler were suspicious and a search conducted in the scene indicated that the victim could have been murdered as poisonous chemical and syringe were recovered from the compound. Amina, being the prime suspect and one of the wives of the traditional ruler was arrested and charged to court for culpable homicide having been linked to the demise of her husband.        The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Office has arraigned twenty four students of Olabisi Onabanjo University and the National Open University of Nigeria who were arrested for alleged involvement in various cyber crimes. Ten of the defendants which include: Agboola Taiwo, Adetayo Tade Ademiluyi, Rabiu Daniel, Sokoya Oluwaseyi, Fredrick Shaibu, Oshikoya Gbolahan, Adegbola Kazeem Aina, Ademosun Opeyemi, Tosin Awobona and Babarinde Jacob were arraigned Monday, 10th December, 2018 before Hon. Justice Ibrahim Watilat of the Federal High Court 2 sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State.        The Presidency has dismissed the recent utterances by former president Olusegun Obasanjo, as a sign of confusion not worthy of attention. Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said that whoever Obasanjo chooses to support at the 2019 elections is irrelevant, as the former president had publicly changed his mind on the matter so many times over the past  few months alone. "Former president Obasanjo denounces one person today and supports that same person the next day. "When it pleases him, he brings God into the matter and uses that as his excuse for whatever position he has chosen," he said.
