The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Governor Sule Loses Younger Brother  ***  Alhaji Labaran Musa Sule, the younger brother of Governor Abdullahi Sule is dead.  He died Saturday morning in Gudi, Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The cause of death remains unknown.  The deceased has since been buried according to Islamic rites.  May his soul RIJF, ameen.

Give Me Seven Weeks To Produce Witnesses, Obi Tells tribunal The candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, Mr Peter Obi, on Saturday, demanded seven weeks to produce witnesses to establish his case at the Presidential Election Petition Court. He also stated that he would present 50 witnesses that would testify and tender evidence to establish that the 2023 presidential election was rigged against him. Obi disclosed this on Saturday during the proceedings on the petition he filed to challenge the president-elect, Bola Tinubu. Addressing the court through his team of lawyers led by Prof. Awa Kalu, SAN, he noted that he was constrained in addition to a few hiccups he encountered at the Independent National Electoral Commission hence the request for seven weeks. Anambra State Students Emerge Runner-up In Global SDGs Competition In US  Some students from Queen of the Rosary College, Onitsha, Anambra State, have clinched second place in the just-concluded World Affairs Challenge. The challenge is an international programme and competition designed for middle and high school students to develop and implement their own S.M.A.R.T. solutions for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The team carried out innovation in Queens’ Lyfe bags – a 100 per cent plantable biodegradable bag made from rice straws, banana fibres, and corn husks and infused with tomato, pepper and watermelon seeds so that the bags can grow into plants when disposed of. May 12, 2023 was indeed a black Friday for the inhabitants of Takalafia and Gwanja communities in Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, particularly the immediate family of Mrs Janet Aliko. By the time the dust raised by the invasion settled, no fewer than 41 lives were dispatched into early graves. Among them were Janet’s husband, Aliko, and their only two children. It was learnt that as the gunmen stormed the area, shooting sporadically and setting houses ablaze, the late Aliko had prayed to God to accept his soul even before opening the door to the house where he was shot dead. Their innocent kids were also not spared by the invaders while their mother escaped death only because she travelled to Port Harcourt to sell yam and returned a few minutes after the incident to find her husband and two kids in pools of blood.  Gunmen Raid Anambra Town Kill Many Burn Them Alive May 20, 2023      Many killed and many burnt alive in Awgbu by Unknown Gunmen terrorising Orumba/Anaocha axis of Anambra State…… According to eyewitness, many were killed while many were burnt alive by unknown gunmen who attacked Eke Awgbu market square yesterday night being 18th May 2023. In eyewitness account, unknown gunmen were accosted by Agulu local security guards for terrorising their environs and were caught in Awgbu where the angry mobs dealt with the unknown gun attackers in Eke Awgbu square.  Presidential Election Tribunal Set To Merge Atiku, Obi, APM’s Petitions May 20, 2023 The Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, is considering the consolidation of the three remaining petitions that challenge the outcome of the recent presidential election. The petitions were filed by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), along with the PDP itself, Peter Obi and the LP (Liberal Party), and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM). During the resumption of the pre-hearing session for Atiku and the PDP’s petition on Saturday, Justice Tsammani raised the question of whether the surviving petitions should be consolidated in accordance with Paragraph 50 of the First Schedule to the Electoral Act 2022. The Paragraph states that if two or more petitions are presented regarding the same election or return, they should be treated as a single petition. Protesters Storm Presidential Election Tribunal, Make Demand May 20, 2023 Protesters under the umbrella of Free Nigeria Movement (FNM), on Saturday, stormed the Court of Appeal headquarters in Abuja, seat of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), to demand that the judiciary be fair and unbiased in the outcome of the ongoing adjudication on the February 25 presidential election. The protesters, mostly dressed in black, were also in show of sympathy with the victims of insecurity across the country and demanded an end to recent killings especially in the North-central part of Nigeria. Two Policemen Killed As Gunmen Attack Another Checkpoint In Imo May 20, 2023 Unidentified gunmen have again attacked a police checkpoint located at Okpala Junction along Owerri/Aba Road, Ngor Okpala council area of Imo State one month after they killed five policemen and husband and wife at the same junction. The incident, which happened early hours of today, Saturday 20th May 2023, left two policemen dead and many others injured, our correspondent gathered. Atiku, PDP to Call 100 Witnesses in Petition against Tinubu’s Election May 20, 2023 Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have revealed their plans to call not more than 100 witnesses to testify in their petition challenging the election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu before the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC). Their lawyer, Chris Uche (SAN) made this known on Saturday in Abuja at the resumption of proceedings before the PEPC this morning. The legal practitioner said the anticipated 100 witnesses will include those already listed and those to be subpoenaed. Meanwhile, lawyer to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Abubakar Mahmud SAN said his client plans to call two witnesses. It is learnt that Bola Tinubu is to call 39 in addition to those to be subpoenaed while his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) plans to call 25 witnesses, in addition to those to be subpoenaed.

The electoral umpire made the disclosure in a letter dated 17th April written to APC Zonal Chairman. Obi, LP To Call 50 Witnesses To Testify Before Presidential Election Tribunal May 20, 2023 The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) and the party plan to call 50 witnesses in prosecuting their petition before the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC). Their lawyer, Awa Kalu (SAN) announced this a moment ago in the ongoing pre-hearing session in the petition. Kalu said his clients will require seven weeks to present its case because they still are still experiencing some hiccups with its dealings with INEC.
