 At least seven dead after ferry carrying nearly 270 people capsizes off northern Cyprus coast  At least seven people have died after a ferry carrying nearly 270 passengers and crew capsized off the northern coast of Cyprus on Sunday. Northern Cyprus Prime Minister Unal Ustel said 237 people had been rescued, while search teams continued looking for 24 others. The ferry encountered difficult weather conditions and began taking on water about 15 minutes after leaving port, prompting a distress call shortly afterward. The catamaran-style vessel was traveling from Kyrenia, also known as Girne, in northern Cyprus to the Turkish port of Tasucu in Mersin province. Kyrenia Mayor Murat Senkul said the ferry was operated by Filo Denizcilik and sank off Diana beach along Cyprus’ northern coast. A MEDICAL EVACUATION PLANE WITH 7 PEOPLE,DISAPPEARED YESTERDAY NIGHT OFF SENEGAL COAST.

                 According to the Senegalese civil aviation authority said to day sunday that a medical evacuation plane with seven people on board,including a French patient,disappeared off the coast of Senegal yesterday saturday night,during a flight from Burkina Faso to Darkar.The private Senegal air plane from Ouagadougou disappeared from radar screens at 7:08pm west of Dakar.The army has sent out two planes and a naval vessel to look for the plane.The plane was carrying three crew members,a doctor and two nurses as well as the patient.Those on board included two Algerians and a citizen of Congo,although the aviation authority did not specify whether this meant the Democratic Republic of Congo or Republic of Congo.The plane,chartered by SOS Medicin Senegal ,had left Ouagadougou at 4:30pm.

N4 MILLION WORTH OF FAKE DRUGS,SEIZED BY NAFDAC IN JIGAWA STATE.

               Today sunday,the National Agency for food and Drug Administration and Control {NAFDAC} in Jigawa said that it confiscated fake and unregistered drugs worth four million naira in the last two years.The NAFDAC  State Coordinator Mr Olaniran Olakunle,disclosed this in Dutse while presenting to newsmen some suspects allegedly arrested with fake drugs in Gwaram and Malammadori Local Government areas.Olakunle said that most of the suspects arrested with fake and counterfeit drugs during the period were in rural communities across the state.He said that fake drugs such as mixacrip tablets,herpgra,busaka,polycid and tramadol capsule were seized from some patent medicine vendors in Gwaram and Malammadori last week.The value of drugs seized from them is about N250,000.The coordinators said the suspects were being investigated to ascertain the sources of the products in order to bring the entire chain to justice.He further said that the s...

ARMED ROBBERS,RAIDED YOUTH CORPS MEMBERS LODGE IN OGUN STATE YESTERDAY.

                    Yesterday saturday morning,armed robbers invaded the residence of National Youth Corps  members serving in Ogun state.The residence is located behind Development Centre,Presidential Boulevard,Abeokuta,the Ogun state capital.The robbery at the lodge,which is the third within five months,occurred at about 3:00am when the Youth Corps members were fast asleep.Items lost include some amount of money,ten laptops and over twenty five telephones.An eyewitness account has it that the bandits exploited the absence of security in the vicinity to gain access to the lodge and at gun point robbed the Youth Corps members.The armed robbers forced their way into each flat at gun point and thereafter embarked on the raid,unhindered.Two of the bandits moved from one room to the other to ransack,while the other two stayed outside to attack anybody that resisted.The Youth Corps members said they had earlier reported the two previous ...
