 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

Kaduna Train Hostage Negotiator Arrested In Egypt The spokesperson for the Kaduna-based cleric, Ahmad Gumi, Tukur Mamu, was arrested in Egypt Tuesday. He was arrested and detained by Interpol at the Cairo International Airport while awaiting a connecting flight to Saudi Arabia. Mr Mamu, who is the Publisher of Desert Herald Newspaper in Kaduna, negotiated the release of some of the victims of the March 2022 Kaduna Train attack. He, however, told PREMIUM TIMES Wednesday morning that he has been flown back to Nigeria by Interpol after he was interrogated and nothing was found incriminating against him. He was accompanied by his two wives and one other person. He is expected to arrive at Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano Wednesday afternoon and may be interrogated further by officials of Nigerian secret police, Department of State Security (DSS). KDSG Security Update: Wednesday 7th September 2022.  Troops frustrate bandits along Kaduna-Zaria road, neutralize two.  Troops of the Nigerian Army repelled armed bandits around the Fondisho general area, along the Kaduna-Zaria road in Igabi local government.  In an operational feedback to the Kaduna State Government, it was revealed that the troops, responding quickly to credible intelligence, set up an ambush position at the location.  On entering the area, the bandits sprang the ambush and came under intense fire as they were stoutly repelled by the troops. POLICE ARREST EX-CONVICT FOR TRAFFIC ROBBERY   Officials of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested an ex-convict for traffic robbery around the Ketu area of Lagos State.    The suspect, Emmanuel Sunday aged 32, was apprehended around 8:00 p.m. when RRS officials working undercover spotted him while trying to dispossess a motorist of his mobile phone at Ojota Underbridge.    Sunday disclosed that he was few months ago arrested by Alapere Police Division for stealing, for which he was sentenced to three month jail term in Kirikiri Correctional Centre.    Sunday’s arrest came on the heels of strategic deployment of undercover policemen to comb areas with incidences of traffic robbery by the Commander RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi.   The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi has directed that the team leave no stone unturned in the arrest of the remaining traffic robbers in the area. Okada riders are sleeping with our wives,” Police constabularies say as they protest 18-months unpaid salary Personnel of the Nigeria Police Special Constabulary on Wednesday, September 7, stormed the streets of Osogbo, Osun State, to protest the non-payment of their 18-month salary. The protesting officers, who were in their numbers and uniforms, converged on the Old-Garage area, marching through Oke-Fia, Alekuwodo before storming the Ola-Iya flyover to register their displeasure over the unpaid allowances. The constabularies recruited to complement the police structure by providing intelligence, among others were inaugurated in May 2021 at Police Headquarters, Osun State after their training in April 2021. TheNation reports that they carried placards with several inscriptions such as: ‘Pay our salary now’; ‘Okada riders are sleeping with our wives’, ‘Pay us our 18-month salary’, ‘pay us’, ‘Our Stipends And Allowances’ and ‘18 months without kobo’ among others. Enenche of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court,   Maitama,   Abuja has convicted and sentenced Moses Ogbu to one year imprisonment for criminal misappropriation of N14,  293, 000(Fourteen Million,  Two Hundred And Ninety Three Thousand Naira).    He was jailed on Wednesday,   September 7, 2002  after pleading guilty to one- count charge bordering on misappropriation of funds, upon his arraignment by the Abuja Zonal Command of the EFCC.

4 Newborn Babies Die In Sapele Central Hospital, Delta Doctor ‘Found Drunk’ The families of four newborn babies have been thrown into mourning after they died due to alleged negligence on the part of the doctor on duty at the Sapele Central Hospital, in the Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State. The victims’ families, while lamenting over their deaths, alleged that the doctor on duty was drunk, adding that there was no power supply in the hospital. Angered by the development, patients, relatives and visitors at the hospital reportedly staged a protest as they slammed the management of the medical facility over the victims’ deaths. A relative to one of the bereaved mothers, Benjamin Ikeji, said all the women due for delivery lost their babies in a single night. He said, “When we brought my sister to this hospital, the doctor told us that it was not yet time for her delivery and I and my sister’s husband waited till 10pm. “At midnight my sister said the baby was stuck and the nurse

Ooni Of Ife Remarries After Naomi’s Split The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has married a new wife, Mariam Anako, about nine months after then Queen Naomi Silekunola announced her separation from the first-class monarch. Channels Television gathered from palace sources that the monarch received his new bride on Tuesday evening after brief rites at the palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State. It was also learnt that siblings of the new queen and Oba Ogunwusi were present at the private ceremony. The spokesman for the monarch, Moses Olafare, splashed photos and videos of the event on his Facebook page. Though efforts to speak with Olafare proved abortive as of press time as his calls rang out, palace sources confirmed to our correspondent that Anako was received at the palace on Tuesday evening.
