  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. KDSG Security Update: Sunday 27th November 2022.  Troops neutralize four bandits in Chikun LGA. Troops of Operation Forest Sanity neutralized four bandits during clearance operations in identified hideouts around Tsohon Gayan, Chikun LGA.  This was conveyed in operational feedback to the Kaduna State Government. The troops made contact and pursued the fleeing bandits. Two bandits were neutralized during the engagement, while credible human intelligence sources revealed that two others died from gunshot wounds.  Credible sources in the general area reported that two of the four neutralized have been identified as Dogo Mallam and Bello Mallam.  The troops recovered one AK47 rifle, one magazine with 22 rounds of ammunition and one motorcycle.  Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed satisfaction at the report, and praised the troops for their resilience and courage in the latest success.  Clearance operations will continue in the general area and other locations.  Signed  Samuel Aruwan  Commiss

He just did not wake up from his sleep - Sammie Okposo's manager speaks on the late singer's demise The project manager of popular gospel singer, Sammie Okposo, Hillary Vincent, has denied media reports claiming the Wellu Wellu crooner slumped and died on Friday, November 25.   The veteran gospel artiste passed away last Friday, and so many reports claimed he slumped and died.   Setting the records straight, Vincent in an interview with Punch, said late Okposo died in his sleep. “It is not true that Sammie slumped and died. That report is false. At the right time, the family will set the records straight. But, I can tell you authoritatively that he did not slump. Rather, he just did not wake up from his sleep. As regards the funeral arrangements, the details will be made known by the family. Awka cult shooting: One dead, 3 arrested At least one person has been confirmed dead in the Awka cult shooting on Saturday morning. Gunshots were earlier heard at Ziks Avenue in Awka, where rival cult groups were alleged to have clashed. Further enquiry showed that a member of one of the cult groups, who was whisked away by a rival group was later found dead in a different location. Also, three persons in connection to the cult clash were also said to have been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force. State command’s spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga who confirmed this to our correspondent said the operation was still ongoing, at the time of filling this report. Ikenga said: “One person was whisked away and later his lifeless body was found along Abba/Ifitedunu Road. Meanwhile, we have three suspects in custody, and operation is still ongoing.”

63% of teachers in Anambra are corps members- NYSC The Anambra State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Blessed Ekene Iruma, has said that 63percent of teachers in the state are corps members. Iruma disclosed this at the weekend during the 2022 Corps Employers Workshop held at Prof Kenneth Dike Digital Library, Awka, the state capital. Our correspondent learnt that the state under the Prof Chukwuma Soludo-led government has approved the employment of no fewer than 5000 teachers for both primary and secondary schools. However, Iruma who disclosed the state’s teachers’ strength ,called on employers in the state to prioritise the welfare of corps members in their workplaces by giving attention to their safety and comfort at all times. A 29 years old lady, Chioma Okafor, was on Friday 25th of November 2022, arrested by men of Ogun state Police Command while carrying out robbery operation with a 19 years old boy Nweke Joshua at Adesan area of Mowe.  The suspects were arrested following a distress call received at Mowe divisional headquarters at about 9:30 pm, that armed robbers have invaded a food stuff shop, owned by one Johnson Nwokoro at Safari Junction Adesan and dispossesing the owner of the day's sales.

The theft of motor bikes across the Nelson Mandela Bay metro has once again triggered a concern for police as four motor bikes/cycles were stolen since Saturday, 21 November 2022.  On Friday evening, 25 November 2022 at about 20:40, SAPS Cookhouse Crime Prevention members made a significant breakthrough when they arrested two suspects on the NU 10 about 25km outside Cookhouse. It is alleged that the members received information of a white bakkie traveling from Gqeberha towards Cookhouse, allegedly in possession of suspected stolen motor bikes. The members waited for the vehicle and as soon as it was spotted, a chase ensued.  They succeeded in stopping the fleeing vehicle and on searching the vehicle, they found disassembled motorbike parts. These parts were hidden underneath bags of potatoes and chip packets. Other parts including the wheels and petrol tanks were found concealed in a mattress as well as in the base of the mattress.
