  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Jang   The corruption trial of a former Plateau State governor, Senator David Jonah Jang before Justice Christy Dabup of Plateau State High Court, Jos resumed today, Tuesday, February 8, 2022, with the prosecution presenting two more witnesses: Boyi Kakai Sanka (PW6), and Mary Anthony Bawa (PW7) The EFCC is prosecuting Jang alongside Yusuf Pam, a former cashier in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (OSSG), for alleged criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of Plateau State funds to the tune of N6.32 billion. Man Bags Six Months Jail Term for Land Scam in Kano   The Kano Command of the EFCC, on February 7, 2022 secured the conviction and sentencing of one Suleiman Bello Abubakar before Justice Jamilu Shehu Suleiman of the Kano State High Court on a two count charge of cheating. The convict was prosecuted for obtaining N1, 240,000 in a fraudulent land deal. He claimed to be the owner of two plots of Land located at Tudun Yola Quarters Kano with number 1145TP/KAS/215B and 2525CTP/KAS/215A for which the complainant paid him a cash sum of N740, 000 and N500,000 respectively. Subsequent enquiry at the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning Kano, revealed that the said plots do not exist.

  The Lagos State Government has lifted the suspension earlier placed on the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles Committee (RAVC) ad-hoc operations in the State. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation , Mr. Oluwatoyin Fayinka, said the decision to lift the suspension was reached after a thorough appraisal and review of the operational guidelines of the team in accordance with the Law of the State as captured in the Traffic Sector Reform Law (TSRL) 2018. Fayinka maintained that RAVC is now back, better and stronger having subjected some of its operatives to more professional training on the discharge of their duties in respect to the removal of stationary and abandoned vehicles on Lagos roads. He said abandoned vehicles have continued to degrade the environment and pose security and traffic impediments to road users in the State. The immediate-past governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, has said the state was put on the map due to the statues his administration built at Heroes Square. In a post on his official Facebook page witnessed by Native Reporters on Tuesday, Okorocha said he and his family have been under attack due to the false narratives and misconceptions that greeted the building of the square.  “The statues are innovations that I’m proud of. The innovations put Imo State on the map.” The former governor said before he came into government, if an Imo citizen staying in America were to describe his state, he would cite its proximity to Rivers State because the state never had an identity.

Methanol is a regular additive in Petrol and usually blended in an acceptable quantity. To ensure vehicular and equipment safety, the limited quantity of the impacted product has been isolated and withdrawn from the market, including the loaded trucks in transit. Our technical team in conjunction with NNPC Ltd and other industry stakeholders, will continue to monitor and ensure quality petroleum products are adequately supplied and distributed nationwide.
