 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

CORONAVIRUS: HEADMASTER DELIVERS ONLINE COURSE MATERIAL TO STUDENTS LIVING IN REMOTE VILLAGES AS CHINA POSTPONED SPRING SEMESTER.{PHOTOS}.

       China has postponed the spring semester due to the coronavirus outbreak, and millions of students staying at home turned to online learning. Luo Changshi, the headmaster of Xinzhu Elementary School at Xinzhu Village of Wanzai County, E China's Jiangxi Province, started to deliver coursewares from Feb. 11 for five students living in the remote area of the village where the cell phone signals and i nternet services were almost unusable. Every day, Luo went to school early in the morning to record and copy the online lessons, then delivered the coursewares to the students along the mountain road by motorcycle. People joked that he had become a deliveryman, but Luo felt happy to fulfill what he thought was his responsibility.More photos below.

      Brent has officially been named the 2020 London Borough of Culture.  Today, The Duchess of Cornwall joined residents to celebrate the borough’s new status. This year Brent surpassed 21 other London Boroughs to win the £1 million funding, enabling them to stage a year-long programme of cultural events and initiatives. At The Granville Centre in Kilburn, The Duchess met community volunteers and learnt about the co-working and event space on offer. The centre supports the local  community with access to low cost fitness activities, workspaces, and business support. Next, Her Royal Highness visited the recently renovated Kiln Theatre. The Duchess met young people turning their passions into projects as part of ‘The Agency’ project. Young people have been encouraged to apply for funding to help drive positive change in the community.More photos below.

       The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Office on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, arraigned an ex-banker, Akinwole Oluwaseun Dosunmu, alongside his wife, Motunrayo Olanike Dosunmu before Justice Ladiran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court, Ibadan for alleged financial fraud to the tune of N2, 740,300.92 (Two Million, Seven Hundred and Forty Thousand, Three Hundred Naira, Ninety-Two kobo). . . The couple was accused of stealing the sum from the Sterling Bank Plc. Akinwole was an employee of the bank, while his wife was a customer and a beneficiary in the bank’s Third Party Acquirer Scheme. . . The bank had initiated the scheme as a marketing strategy through which relatives and friends of their marketing agents were awarded commission for bringing new customers to open and operate new accounts with the bank.        Lagos has recorded a case of the Lassa Hemorrhagic fever which has raged in over 19 States across the country. Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi who disclosed this today, confirmed that the patient is currently in isolation at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), maintaining that the situation is under control and calling on residents to remain calm.
