 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. Christian Association Accuses Nigerian Government Of Keeping Silent While Terrorists Kill Christians In Kaduna Communities The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State, has accused the federal and state governments of keeping silent while Islamic terrorists under the cloak of bandits massacre Christians in the state.   The State CAN Chairman, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, who stated this in a statement on Sunday, described the killings as too many and the lack of concern by the government as “disappointing and disgraceful”. “The bandits are now hardened and brutal. ONGOING CONSTRUCTION OF MAIDUGURI GAS POWER PLANT BY NNPC.(PHOTOS).#PRESS RELEASE.

Ongoing construction of Maiduguri Gas Power Plant by NNPC.  The new 50MW Gas Power Plant by NNPC in Maiduguri will be completed by November with Greenvillle signed on to supply 170 metric tonnes of Gas , using 22 Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) trucks daily from Rivers State to Borno.  The LNG trucks will travel 1,700km from Rumuji in Rivers to Maiduguri daily, until the AKK project is launched next year whereby Grenville will begin running a shorter distance from the new Kano gas depot to Maiduguri. This 50MW turbine is said to be the best in the world.  In the event of a Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) supply-chain disruption, a gas reservoir is being constructed that would sustain the turbine for at least 10 running days. Ogun Customs Intercepts Goods Worth Over 1 Billion in 2 months  The Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun I Area Command on Monday said the cumulative Duty Paid Value (DPV) of all the seizures between the month of May and June 2022 amounts to N1,290,108, 608.00 The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Bamidele Makinde during a media briefing at Idiroko Ogun state said between the month of May 2022 till date, the Command generated a total sum of N12,818,181.00 from importation and auction sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly known as petrol, intercepted at different locations and exit points to the  Republic of Benin during anti-smuggling operations. Speaking further on the anti-smuggling activities, he noted that as a whole, a total of 8,417 bags of foreign parboiled rice with an estimated duty paid value of N131, 145, 277, which is an equivalent of 14 trailer loads, was seized during the period under review. Judge refuses to hear case of lawyer for dressing as ‘juju priest’ to court A Federal High Court in Lagos has refused to hear the cases filed by human rights lawyer, Malcolm Omirhobo, for appearing before the court dressed as a ”juju priest”. Last Thursday, Omirhobo attended proceedings at the Supreme court dressed like a juju priest. He had white chalk-drawn on one of his eyes sockets, had legs chains, and also tied a red cloth around his waist, and had feathers on his head. Omorhibo told newsmen that he was exercising his fundamental rights following the recent verdict of the apex court which affirmed the wearing of hijab in schools. Court Sends 10 Fraudsters to Jail in Uyo Justices Toyin Bolaji Adegoke and Agatha Okeke of the Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State have convicted and sentenced ten(10) fraudsters to different jail terms for different offences.   They were convicted on Friday, June 24, 2022 after pleading guilty to one-count separate charges upon their arraignment by the Uyo Zonal Command of the EFCC.   While eight of the convicts: Amos Richard Perekime, Ben Goodluck, Solomon Oghenefejiro Daniel, Ugbabe Ogah Nelson, Prosper Oweifah, Christopher Samuel Akpan, Ojei Ekene Franklin and Uzobo Lucky Divine pleaded guilty to one-count charge bordering on criminal impersonation and obtaining by false pretense, the other two convicts: Ekere Ekong and Obot Eshiet pleaded guilty to a charge bordering on obtaining by false pretences.
