  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. COURT CONVICTS FIVE YAHOO-BOYS IN CALABAR.{PHOTO}.

      The Uyo Zonal Office of the EFCC, on Thursday December 12, 2019, secured the conviction of 5 cyber criminals, popularly called Yahoo Boys before Justice S. M. Shuaibu of the Federal High Court Calabar, in Cross River State. The convicts are: Omengala Emmanuel (a.k.a.Frank Hoffman), Obonga Valentine ( a.k.a Patrick Seaman), Segun Dele Jude (alias Hal Burlington), Promise Nkanga and Omengala Paul (alias Christopher Mason). Before they were convicted and sentenced, the convicts pleaded guilty to the one count charge preferred against them separately by the EFCC for their various involvements in cyber crimes.

AKPABIO WITHDRAWS FROM SENATORIAL RERUN,ASK APC TO NOMINATE REPLACEMENT.

     The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, has withdrawn from the planned rerun election in Ikot Ekpene senatorial district of Akwa Ibom State. Akpabio, who was a former Senate minority leader, stated this in a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole. The Minister, in the letter, dated December 2, 2019, said a huge responsibility has been placed on him as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs. Akpabio said he won’t abandon a critical national assignment placed on him by President Muhammadu Buhari in pursuit of a rerun election. He urged the party to write the Independent National Electoral Commission, in line with Sections 33 and 35 of the Electoral Act, 2010, and submit a replacement to run in his place. The Nigerian Army wishes to emphatically state that there was no incident that involved the "capture and killing of tens and tens of Nigerian soldiers on the 10th of December 2019" as mischievously and wickedly portrayed in the video.      The Force Commander Multinational Joint Task Force Major General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf earlier today visited soldiers of the Task Force, of Cameroonian,Chadian, Nigerien and Nigerian nationalities, who are recuperating from injuries sustained in the ongoing counterinsurgency operations in the Lake Chad Area. Addressing the affected soldiers in a Specialist Hospital in N'Djamena, Major General Yusuf said they fought for a good cause for which they and their families should be very proud of. Continuing, he said "The MNJTF is very proud of your sacrifices and is committed to ensuring that you have the best medicare that will guarantee your full recovery". EFCC ARRESTS 16-YEAR-OLD,28 OTHERS FOR INTERNET FRAUD IN IMO.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      Operatives of the EFCC, on Friday, December 13, 2019, arrested 29 suspected internet fraudsters, better known as Yahoo Yahoo Boys in three different locations in Owerri, the Imo State capital. The haul included a 16-year-old undergraduate. The suspects, who are believed to have used different pseudo names to defraud their unsuspecting victims, were arrested following intelligence and three days surveillance on thei r hideouts in Bishops Courts’ Malo Lodge, Umuagu Mbieri and King David’s Suite in Owerri. Five cars that include: Lexus RX 350, 2013 model, Lexus RX 330, 2009 model, Lexus ES 300, 2002 model, Toyota Corolla Sport and Toyota Camry were seized from them, so also 15 laptops, phones and computer hard-drives.

      Justice Chuka Obiozor of the Federal High court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos has convicted and sentenced the trio of Raphael Ishado, Jacob Sunday and Raheem Shanu to one year imprisonment each for N10,000k currency counterfeiting. The convicts were arraigned by the EFCC, on an amended two-count charge bordering on dealing in conspiracy and counterfeit currency on June 24, 2019.More photos below.
