  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. 62-year-old herbalist arrested for allegedly raping minor brought to him for treatment in Adamawa The Adamawa State Police Command on Saturday, July 23, apprehended a 62 years old man for allegedly raping a 14 years old minor in Zagun village, Numan local government area. The suspect identified as  Godwin Sanda, a resident of Zagun village, allegedly took undue advantage of the victim's status kept in his custody as a herberlist for treatment.  Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said the incident was reported to the Divisional Police  Headquarters, Numan by the victim's mother Maryam Abubakar. Preliminary Investigation reveals, that the victim was suffering from mental disorder and was rushed to the suspect for possible medication by her mother. Few weeks after the convoy of President Muhammadu Buhari was attacked in Katsina State, terrorists have threatened to abduct Nigeria’s number one citizen. The convoy of an advance team of the president was attacked on its way to Buhari’s hometown of Daura ahead of Sallah. Two persons sustained injuries in the attack, which the presidency said was repelled. The attack on the convoy happened on the day when the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) invaded Kuje Prison in Abuja and freed over 800 inmates, including all the terrorists in detention. The substance, a herbal drug is being abused and now taken as a replacement for some banned substances. During his inspection tour, Governor Dapo Abiodun declared a state of emergency on the Lagos-Sango Ota-Abeokuta Road and also stated that his administration is giving the Federal Government a 2-week window to intervene on this road. The streaks of arrests and seizures began on Sunday 17th July when a 52-year-old father of three, Okwo Paul Okechukwu, was arrested upon his arrival from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia via an Ethiopian airline flight at the Abuja airport for ingesting 76 pellets of cocaine.
