The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. The Lagos State Environmental and Enforcement and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce) has debunked a fake report that operatives of the squad allegedly killed a commercial bus driver and conductor, leading to unrest in the LASU/Iyana Iba area of the State. The Chairman, Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Shola Jejeloye said the unrest by commercial drivers in LASU/Iyana Iba was based on false information and instigated by troublemakers, stressing that what actually happened was at variance with reasons for the protest. According to him, a danfo driver attempted to evade arrest from the task force after committing a traffic offence at Iyana-Ipaja on Monday, but ran into a broken-down vehicle in the process. “The impact with the stationary vehicle injured the technician, who was repairing the faulty vehicle. The Nigerian Army has revealed that it received a fresh batch of over 200 repentant Boko Haram terrorists and their family members in clearance operations in Saturday and Sunday in Borno State, Igbere TV reports.  The army high command noted that a total of 186 Boko Haram terrorists surrendered on Saturday led by their Amir, Manye Aga, to troops of Operation Hadin Kai at the Forward Operational Base (FOB) in Ajiri. Meanwhile, on Sunday, the military received 33 additional Boko Haram fighters from Landanli, Azah, Ngaridua and Kondilla villages, who surrendered to own troops of 151 Task Force Battalion, Banki Junction in Bama. The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, stated these in a release on Monday, obtained by IGBERE TV, despite the outcries and widespread condemnation that had greeted the exercise. EFCC Arrests 10 Suspected Internet Fraudsters   The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Kaduna Zonal Command, have arrested 10 persons for alleged Internet-related fraud   The suspects are Ezenwa Peter, Fahad Ahmad, Alyassau Mohammed, Nehemia Joel, Enoch Simon, Kabson Ziryi Beloved, Japheth Audu, Olatunji Abimbola, Innocent Arzuka and David Samuel.    They were arrested at a hotel along Karji Expressway, Kaduna following intelligence on their alleged internet fraud activities.   Investigation revealed that the suspects specialize in love/marriage scams, identity theft, and impersonation as they created fictitious social media accounts to defraud innocent victims. Some of them are said to be pickers or receivers of proceeds of fraudulent acts.    The suspect will be arraigned in court at the conclusion of the investigation. One more photo below.

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Thursday confer with security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The President returned to Abuja last Friday after 18 days in London, during which he attended an education summit and did health checks. The security forces have in the past few weeks taken the battle more robustly to insurgents, bandits, and all other criminals troubling the country, and they are now surrendering in droves.  The President will be brought up to speed on developments at the Thursday meeting, while plans to bring a decisive end to the challenges will be formulated. The attention of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has been drawn to a picture with various captions that is circulating in a section of the social media alleging that a strange flag has been hoisted at the headquarters of the Agency in Abuja. It is unfortunate that the picture in circulation was taken by suspected mischief makers on Friday 13th August 2021, at the commissioning of NEMA’s newly upgraded Emergency Call Centre. Big Brother Naija season 6 current Head of House, Maria have expressed surprise over the drastic reduction of condoms in the house. Maria in a conversation with Nini, Emmanuel, Liquorose and some other housemates disclosed that about 16 condoms are missing from the 34 that was provided for the house. Meanwhile, Peace who revealed that she doesn’t sleep without wearing her nightwear concluded that ladies who have guys sleep on their beds are responsible for the missing condoms. “If the Condoms are missing then it has to be the girls that have the boys on their bed”, she said. This evening, I was in Asokoro, Abuja to pay a condolence visit to the family of our former Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ibrahim Mantu, who passed away early this morning. During the visit, I eulogized Senator Mantu for his leadership and statesmanship — remembering how he was committed to not only the development of his constituents, but his entire state and the nation at large.
