EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall are in Wales for their annual visit, where they will visit organisations and charities across the country. On Day 1, Their Royal Highnesses toured BBC Cymru Wales's new headquarters, and visited the newly unveiled statue of Betty Campbell - the first black woman to become a headteacher in Wales. The Duchess also visited RISE Cardiff to learn more about their work to support those affected by Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (VAWDASV). The Prince, Colonel-in-Chief of The Queen’s Dragoon Guards, presented #PlatinumJubilee medals to the Regiment - including Mascot, Welsh Mountain Pony Lance Corporal Jones. More photos below.

Abducted Kaduna Catholic Priest Regains Freedom The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Kaduna State, has confirmed the release of Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Silas, barely 24 hours after he was abducted by some armed men. Silas was kidnapped from the parish rectory at St. Charles Catholic Church in Zambina, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, in the early hours of Monday. In a statement, the Chancellor of the Diocese, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Okolo, thanked everyone who offered prayers for the quick release of the priest. “With hearts filled with joy, we raise our voices in a symphony of praises as we announce the return of our brother, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Silas. “He was abducted by armed persons from the parish rectory at St. Charles Catholic Church, Zambina, in Kauru Local Government Area, in the early hours of Monday, July 4th 2022,” the statement read.

Criminals Destroyed 158 Sub-stations, We Lost N386m To Vandalism In Six Months The Management of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company says between January and June, 2022,158 distribution sub-stations were vandalized across the four franchise states of the company. The Chief Engineering and Technical Services Officer of the Company, Bello Musa, in a statement lamented the rising cases of vandalism of power supply infrastructure, saying that it is taking a serious toll on the company’s operations. He said KEDC lost N238,701,800:65 (two hundred and thirty-eight million, seven hundred and one thousand, eight hundred naira, sixty-five Kobo) worth of equipment. He added that it also lost N147,953,449:01(one hundred and forty-seven million, nine hundred and fifty-three thousand, four hundred and forty-nine naira, one Kobo) in expected revenue during the period under review. EFCC Arrests 18 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Abuja Operatives of the EFCC have arrested 18 suspected internet fraudsters in Abuja. The suspects are: ThankGod Oche, Joshua Olohja, Adamu Abdulkadir, David Bruno Bidemi, Emmanuel Avoh, Micheal Oche, Francis Abbah, Kayode Itodo, Shedrack Chibuike, Okeowo Elijah. Others are: Victor Emmanuel, Emmanuel Edache, Abah Joseph Theophilus, Sunday Agidani, Elijah Adamu, Emmanuel Ahme, Moses Agada and Adacole Michel. They were arrested on July 5, 2022 at Trademore Estate, Lugbe, Abuja, following intelligence reports received by the Commission about their alleged involvement in internet-related fraud. EFCC Arrests Man with 41 ATM Cards, POS Machine  The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have arrested a 27 years old suspect and indigene of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nwamannah Chuks Ifeanyi, for alleged ATM card fraud.  He was picked up on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the Fruits Market, Wuse Zone II, Abuja, following an intelligence report. At the point of arrest, 41 ATM cards of different banks, bearing various names, were found in his possession.  Other items recovered from him are a Toyota Venza car with Registration Number KUJ -300 MK, one PoS Machine, two Apple Laptop computers, six iPhones, one Nokia torchlight, one Apple wrist watch and one Driver’s license.   The Benue State University graduate of Political Science and agent to a soccer betting company, claims he uses the ATM cards for Chargeback. EFCC Arraigns Fake FBI Director The EFCC has arraigned a fake Director of the American Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI,   Adamu Yahaya Jiyaba before Justice N.I. Afolabi of the Federal High Court sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State. He was arraigned on a one- count charge bordering on cybercrime. The charge reads: “that you, Adamu Yayaha Jiyaba sometime in 2022 in Abuja within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court attempted to commit an offence to wit: imputed a data that you are Robert S. Muller, the FBI Director with the intention that such inauthentic data will be considered or acted upon and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 13 of the Cybercrime (Provision, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 and punishable under the same Section of the Act." He pleaded not guilty to the charge. Justice Afolabi adjourned the matter till October 26 and 27 2022 for commencement of trial, while Jiyaba was remanded in the Lafia Correctional Centre.

  EFCC Nabs 14 Internet Fraud Suspects in Awka The EFCC, Enugu Zonal Command, on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, arrested fourteen (14) suspected internet fraudsters at Isualaocha, Awka, Anambra State. The arrest followed an intelligence report on their alleged internet fraud-related activities. The suspects include Okeke Chibuzor, Arinze Makua Samuel, Ejiofor Oguchukwu, Onyekwelu Chibueze Martin, Charles Chinedu, Okolie Chinecherem Charles, Ekechi Chibuike, Ikechukwu Louis and Okeke Oluebube. Others are: Onyekwelu Chukwurah, Odimgbe Chibuzor, Umeh Uchenna,Okeke Somtochukwu and Odo Paul. Items recovered from them at the time of the arrest include two Lexus cars, several mobile phones and two HP laptops.

The Veteran Nigerian Actor Kenneth Aguba who was recently found homeless has been found by the general Overseer of OPM, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, he has been given an Accommodation at one of the OPM Free Estates and now at the OPM Free Hospital for Medical Check-up. Keke Rider Assaults Female ATMA Officer On duty In Awka. A personnel of the Aambra State Traffic Management Agency, Miss UG Ezenwa has been assaulted by a tricycle rider while she was duty at the popular Arroma Junction, Awka.  Arroma Junction, a major traffic congestion hot-spot in Awka especially during rush hours in the mornings and evenings has remained a headache for motorists, commuters and traffic wardens.  Several attempts to address the usual logjam made the state government to station officers of ATMA permanently at the Junction. Narrating her ordeal with the tricycle rider, Miss Ezenwa explained that she was controlling traffic when she noticed that the Keke rider packed in the middle of the road to board passengers and she asked him to move away his tricycle which he refused.
