  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Shitu of Federal High Court Bauchi on a three count charge bordering on conspiracy,diversion and conversion of good and received a stolen property to the tune of N5.5 million.The Suspects Zakari Isa,Nura Garba,Muhammad wada Ibrahim,Ibrahim Rabiu and one Babawo now at large were arrested by EFCC operatives in Bauchi and Jos following a petition by ine Alhaji Umaru Sabo of Pantami quarters,Gombe.The petitioner alleged that on 28 September,2015 one of the suspects,Nura Garba who pretended to be a truck driver convinced him and he entrusted and gave him a full truck load of 600 bags of rice worth N5,520,000.00 to be delivered from Lagos to Suleja,Niger state.But,instead,the suspect cornived with other members of the syndicate and fraudulently diverted the said goods to Bauchi,sold same and used the money for personal needs.In his rulin

              Lagos State Governor,Mr Akinwunmi Ambode today monday said that the State would require at least $30billion dollars to adequately deliver 30 most impactful infrastructural projects over the next five years.The Governor,who spoke shortly before inaugurating a 12-member Economic Advisory Committee at the Lagos House,Ikeja,said the projected figure represents about $6billion per annum,whereas the provision for capital projects in the 2017 budget is pegged at N500billion {about $1.6billion}.                                                                                 A Federal High Court,siting in Benin-City,Edo State today February 6,2017 convicted and sentenced to two years imprisonment one Amegor Ovenseri for false representation and obtaining by false pretence. Amegor was first arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,on 21st day of February,2013 on a two count charge bordering on possession of fraudulent documents containing false pretences and Obtaining by false pretence.Amergor upon arraignment pleaded not guilty to the charge.After diligent prosecution by the EFCC,Justice P.I. Ajoku found Amegor guilty on he two count charge and consequently convicts and sentenced him to two years imprisonment without an option of fine on each of the charge.The sentences are to run concurrently.Amergor was arrested with some others suspected to be in internet fraud at No. 56 Siloko Road,Benin City,Edo State on 18th of January,2013 by the men of JTF,4 Briga

LAGOS CLAMPS DOWN ON ILLEGAL ABATTOIRS,CATTLE MARKETS IN IKORODU,BADAGRY.

                No fewer than 24 butchers and cattle traders have been arrested for offences bordering on illegal operations in a clamp-down exercise carried out over the weekend against illegal abattoirs,slaughter slabs and cattle markets by the Lagos State Government.Speaking with newsmen after the exercise,the Commissioner for Agriculture,Mr Oluwatoyin Suarau explained that the exercise was carried out in Ikorodu and Badagry areas of the State by the Monitoring,Enforcement and Compliance Unit on Abattoirs and Slaughter Slabs,Stray Animals,Meat and Live Cattle Transportation and Regulation of Veterinary Premises. The Commissioner stressed the need for periodic monitoring,enforcement and compliance in the red meat value chain business,adding that the effort will help prevent the spread of diseases,promote data collection for planning,promote good animal welfare and make Lagos a safe place for all inhabitants by discouraging environmental pollution and health hazards.While reiterating
