The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. EMIR OF LAFIA URGES CITIZENS NOT TO SMEAR LEADERS FOR SELFISH INTEREST.{PHOTOS}.

     The Emir of Lafia, Dr Isah Mustapha-Agwai 1, has appealed to Nigerians not to smear or bring down those in positions of authority for personal interests, saying only God could give and take power. Mustapha-Agwai made the appeal when the IGP Ibrahim Kpotun-Idris visited him in his palace on Friday. NIGERIAN TROOPS RESCUED 6 ABDUCTED PERSONS FROM BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS ON FRIDAY.{PHOTOS}.

     On Friday 8th September 2017, at about 7.30am troops of Defence Company, 27 Brigade Nigerian Army, on Operation LAFIYA DOLE deployed at Kamuya, Yobe State, received report from some herdsmen that some suspected Boko Haram terrorists have abducted 6 persons from their village. The troops in conjunction with local vigilante familiar with the area trailed the terrorists up to Mangari village which about 20 kilometres a way Kamuya, where they exchanged fire with them, neutralizing 2 of the terrorists and rescued the abducted persons. AFBTE,DONATES ITEMS WORTH N20M TO EDO IDP CAMP.{PHOTO}.

      The Association of Food, Beverages and Tobacco Employers (AFBTE), on Thursday, donated beverages and other items worth about N20 million to victims of the North East crisis, living at the Internally Displaced Persons’ camp in Edo State. President of the association, Chief Patrick Anegbe, while presenting the items at the Camp, which is situated at Uhogua, Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state, said the gesture was part of the group’s Corporate Social Responsibility programmes. Anegbe said: “As an association, we know we cannot donate some of the items we produce to the Internally Displaced Persons. We appealed to member companies to make donations and we got positive responses. The result is what we are presenting to the occupants of the camp.” He expressed his empathy with the inmates and called on the federal government to expedite action on resettling them.“These people, for no fault of theirs, found themselves in this camp.      The Edo State Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Diaspora Affairs, Hon. Osaze Osemwegie-Ero has disclosed plans by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration to revive and rebrand 58 tourist sites across the state. Osemwegie-Ero made the disclosure while receiving members of the Benin Cultural Heritage Centre, on a courtesy visit, led by Squadron Leader Ehi Ighile (rtd.),  on Friday . According to him: “Governor Obaseki has handed over his vision to promote arts and culture in the state to us and has given us a marching order to identify all the cultural and tourism assets in all parts of the state, be it a festival or site, and repackage them for domestic and international tourists.” He said the Aba Festival that was recently held in Igarra, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state, boosted the local economy with about N450million naira. This was disclosed on Friday by the State Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Engr.     The police in Delta have arrested a 49 year old man Clement Silver from Tiv in Benue State for allegedly arranging his own kidnap to fraudulently obtain money from his wife. Silver, who resides in Agbor, was nabbed by members of Agbor Gha-Ihun security outfit at his hideout beside Camelite Paint, Agbor, Delta state, alongside his accomplice, Mr. Sunday Kibechukwu, 33, wh o acted as the kidnapper.         Suspected ritualist and UNIPORT Undergraduate, Ifeanyi Dike, who was recently rearrested in Jos after escaping from a Police Station in Port-Harcourt has finally revealed the motive behind the act. Ifeanyi was first arrested as he tried to dispose off the body of 8-year-old Victory Chikqmso, whom he allegedly kidnapped, raped and murdered. Speaking to newsmen, Ifeanyi revealed that he escaped t o Jos from Port Harcourt through a trailer that loaded goods to Jos. “I came to Jos on August 21, 2017 because I was trying to run away from the alleged ritual offense I was said to have committed, but I am not a ritual killer.
