 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria. FG Plans To Tax Cryptos, Other Digital Assets Zainab Ahmed, minister of finance, budget and national planning, says there is a provision to tax cryptocurrency and other digital assets in the 2022 finance bill. According to a statement released by Laolu Akande, spokesperson to Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Ahmed updated the national economic council (NEC) on the main features of the bill at an extraordinary virtual meeting on Thursday. The minister said the proposed bill is anchored on five fundamental policy drivers. She listed the drivers as tax equity, climate change, job creation/ economic growth, tax incentives’ reform and revenue generation/tax administration. She said that the bill sought to amend relevant taxes, excises and duty statutes in line with the macroeconomic policy reforms of the federal government.

On December 1, at 11:30 a.m. actor Billy Porter was honored with the 2,741st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the category of Live Performance/Live Theatre.  The star is located at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard near the Pantages Theatre and East Town.  The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has proudly hosted the globally iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame since 1960. Catholic priest shares photo of Virgin Mary statue 'bleeding from the eye' and says it happened in Lagos A Virgin Mary statue cried tears of blood in Lagos, a Catholic priest has claimed. Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ehioma, aka Fada Mentor, shared the said said he heard the occurrence was witnessed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Agodo Egbe in Lagos.  His post immediately went viral and started a debate, with many accusing him of idolatory and telling him that such is not possible. In a follow-up post, he disclosed that the Catholic Church will investigate such occurrences first as the Church does not accept everything hook, line, and sinker. He added that this is to avoid hoaxes as there have been such in the past. However, he told critics to be respectful of others' beliefs when opposing them. More photos below.

Fake Italian Engineer Jailed Six Months for €20,000 Scam in Abuja An internet fraudster who defrauded his victim of €20,000 whilst posing as an Italian Engineer has been convicted upon arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The Abuja Zonal Command of the anti-graft agency on Thursday December 1, 2022 docked Areh Ikenna Christian before Justice Aliyu Yunusa Shafa of the High Court of the FCT Gwagwalada Abuja on one count charge of fraudulent impersonation. He pleaded guilty to the charge.

UNIBEN Produces, Showcases Lightweight Utility Vehicle  *** A Ph.D student from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Benin (UNIBEN), Engr. Igbinosa Eghosa has produced and showcased a one-ton utility truck.  The vehicle developed by Engr. Eghosa of the Department of Production Engineering was supervised by Professor Akaehomen Ibhadode, who also led the team to present the wonder on wheels to the University’s Management.  Speaking during the brief ceremony, the project developer opined that the light-weight truck will re-shape and power the growth of the nation’s transport and agriculture industries.  He added that with adequate funding, the vehicle could be produced in large quantity as the design was capable of addressing transportation needs even in local communities. Our patrol team at Marina this evening (6:00 p.m) saw two under-age boys on the  expressway about to be ran over by  speeding vehicles. The boys, Chidara, 5 years  and Shonton Chukwu, 3 years disclosed that their mother,  boarded a car and left them. The team took the children to Adeniji -Adele Police  Division for them to be re -united with their parents. More photos below.

Classroom Romance: Four secondary school students arrested in Port Harcourt The Rivers Police said its officers have arrested two students at the Community Secondary School, Nkpolu Oroworukwo, in Mile Diobu, Port Harcourt, for allegedly entangling themselves in erotic acts in an isolated classroom within the school premises. It was gathered that the two senior secondary school two students were allegedly engaged in the act, unknown to them that they were being recorded on video by one of their classmates. Their classmate who discreetly took the video of the erotic scene then sent it to a fellow student through WhatsApp which in turn drew the attention of some students. Soon afterwards, the attention of the management of the school was drawn to the situation, when a male teacher stumbled on the video on the phone of one of the students the video was transferred to. TWO BROTHERS IN POLICE NET FOR STEALING A CAR. Police in Ogun state on the 30th of November 2022 arrested two brothers Emanuel Nwachukwu 28 years and Sunday Nwachukwu 24years for stealing a Toyota Camry car with registration number JJJ 661 GJ while on their way taking the said vehicle to Imo state. Blogger’s death: Rivers youths protest against UPTH over alleged negligence 2 December 2022  Friends of a Port Harcourt based blogger and social media influencer, known as Folorunsho Yemi, yesterday, stormed the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), to protest what they alleged to be negligence on the part of a staff of the hospital that led to the blogger’s death. It was learnt that Yemi, who is a graduate of plant Science in the Faculty of Sciences in the University of Port Harcourt, was asthmatic and was supposed to partake in the forthcoming convocation ceremony on December 3. It was gathered that the blogger in the early hours of Tuesday, November 29, suffered an attack and was rushed to the Teaching Hospital, wherein he was confirmed dead.   However, close friends who brought him to the hospital said he was alive upon getting to the hospital, alleging that the hospital officials did not expedite action to save their friend’s life.   A neighbour, Ayemi Ibibi, who w
