 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

                            According to one of my reporter Chinenye Genevieve who sent in some pictures with the caption ''There was tension yesterday at the Ahiara Catholic Diocese in Ahiazu Mbaise Council Area of Imo state as the planned public protest and procession by the laity council over the appointment of Peter Ebelr Okpalaeke as the Bishop of the diocese was aborted by the heavy presence of armed policemen and other security agencies who were stationed at all strategic junctions leading to the diocese.Over 3,000 faithful of Ahiara Diocese of the Catholic Church converged on the Mater Ecclesial Cathedral,Mbaise in Imo State for a rally to restate their total rejection of the embattled Bishop Peter Ebele Okpaleke.Okpaleke was anointed and consecrated bishop of the diocese by Pope Benedict XVI in 2012 but both the Laity Council and the priests in the dioces rejected his appointed on the grounds that he is not an indigene of the area,among other reasons.The angry faithful

SARAKI: N4 BILLION JUDGEMENT AGAINST SAHARA REPORTERS SHOWS JUSTICE WILL ALWAYS PREVAIL.

                             President of the Sent,Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki,on thursday commended the judgment of an Ilorin High Court that ruled that the publisher of the online news platform,Sahara Reporters,Mr Omoyele Sowore,sshould pay him the sum of N4 billion {$11.1 Million} as damages over a series of libelous stories published against him by the medium in 2015.Saraki,in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity,Yusuph Olaniyonu,stated that the judgement issued against Sahara Reporters for constantly publishing false,libelous and misleading stories that were aimed at defaming his person,was a testament that the moral arc of the universe will always bend towards justice.''One thing is clear by the judgement,there are systems in place in our nation for all citizens to seek redress if they have been unfairly treated in any way,'' the statement read,''The judgement is a fulfillment of our promise that we will explore all legal means t

CHILD ABUSE: LAGOS ENGAGES 300 PARENTS ON PREVENTIVE MEASURES.

                        In furtherance of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode's directves to ensure that Childs Rights are upheld and Child Abuse is eradicated from the State,over 300 parents were at the weekend engaged on key issues relating to Child protection and prevention.This was the focus at the first Lagos State one-day Parents Teachers Association {PTA} Conference on Child Abuse,organised by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team {DSVRT}.Coordinator of DSVRT,Mrs Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi,said the participants,drawn from both public and private institutions,consisted of members of various PTAs with Lagos State spanning over 100 schools drawn from Education District Six.She said that whilst law enforcement,religious institutions,social workers,school administrators,health workers,community leaders and other relevant stakeholders are being trained on how to appropriately respond to Child Abuse in the State,parents,who should usually be first responders must not be lef
