 Noise pollution: Lagos seals five churches, 19 hotels The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has temporarily shut down no fewer than five churches and 19 hotels over noise pollution between March 23 and April 26  Calculations by our correspondent also showed that no fewer than four markets and shopping complexes were also shut down over noise pollution and other environmental infractions. The churches that have been temporarily sealed include St Monica’s Hall of Our Lady of Lord’s Catholic Church, Christ Rock of Fire Ministry, Wonderful Bible Prayer Ministries, God’s Porch Ministries, and an unnamed Catholic Church Some of the hotels affected are School2bar, Blue Seasons Hotel and Suites, Sulerious Lakeside Hotel, Monero Hotel and Suites, and Lekki Hotel and Suites.      The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has signed the Revised 2020 Appropriation Bill into law, with a pledge to pay attention to health, education, infrastructure and other sectors that would boost the economy of the State. Signing the Budget which was reduced from N449.97bn to N280bn in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, after receiving it from the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kunle Oluomo, Governor  Abiodun said his Government would work within the Budget to ensure that the people get its benefits. "I want to appreciate our Lawmakers for expediting action on the Bill. The relationship between the Legislature and the Executive is exemplary. Issues relating to moving the State forward, are always given prompt attention. "The House has done the needful.      ‪The Federal Government has released a comprehensive schedule for various National Examinations for exit classes, spanning from 17th August to 18th November, 2020‬. The Federal Government has said the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSCE) organized by the National Examination Council (NECO) for SS3 students will commence on October 5 and end on November 18, 2020... The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajuiba, announced the dates for the examination at the end of a two-day meeting with Chief Executives of examination bodies in the country.      President Muhammadu Buhari will observe the Eid El-Kabir prayers with his family at home, just as he did during the Eid El-Fitr a little over two months ago, in line with advisories from the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA and the Presidential Task Force, PTF on COVID-19. In wishing all Muslims a safe and happy Eid, the President reiterated the protocols as issued by the PTF that large gatherings, as  much as possible, should be discouraged. Where small groups choose to hold the Eid together, face masks are absolutely necessary, as is social distancing. Advisedly, such prayers should hold outdoors and worshippers are encouraged to bring their own prayer mats. In order to stop the spread of the disease, the President will not be receiving Sallah homages by religious, community, party and government leaders and urges all citizens to observe the occasion as advised by state and local authorities. He once again wishes all citizens a safe and happy Eid.

COURT ADJOURNS EX-GOVERNOR JANG'S CASE TILL NOVEMBER 4.[PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

Dabup of the Plateau State High Court, Jos, on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 adjourned the case of fraud, involving former Plateau State governor, Senator Jonah David Jang and a former cashier in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (OSSG), Yusuf Pam till November 4 and 5, 2020. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC is prosecuting the duo for alleged criminal breach of trust and misappropriation o f Plateau State funds to the tune of N6.3 billion. At Wednesday's sitting, prosecuting counsel, O.D Mese informed the court that the lead counsel, Rotimi Jacobs SAN, agreed with Jang’s lead counsel, Mike Ozekhome SAN, for August 12 and 13, 2020 as adjournment dates, given that the second day of continuation of the trial, Thursday, July 30, 2020 was declared public holiday by the Federal government.       The Gombe zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the conviction of Haruna Adamu, before Justice Fatima Musa of the Gombe State High Court, on one count charge bordering on non- disclosure of assets and liabilities in the EFCC's Assets Declaration form. Haruna was arrested sometimes in 2019, following claims by a petitioner alleging that he offered him a piece of land situated at Daki B iyu area of Abuja worth N12, 000, 000. 00k( Twelve Million Naira only) The petitioner said he paid a sum of N7, 300,000.00k( Seven Million, Three Hundred Thousand Naira only) to purchase the land but could not gain possession because the original allottee of the land appeared and took ownership of the land.
