The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. RIVERS STATE CHIEF JUDGE URGES FG TO IMPROVE PRISON CONDITION TODAY.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

       The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Adama Iyaye-Laminkara has called on the Federal Government to improve the condition of the nation's prisons and take steps to create spaces in the corrective centres. Speaking during a review session of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Prerogative of Mercy (PACPM) at the Port Harcourt Prisons on Friday, Justice Iyaye-Laminkanra commended the efforts of the Federal Government to de-congest the prisons. She stated that the Rivers State Government has also taken steps to de-congest prisons in the state. She informed that last year, Governor Wike paid fines for over 200 in-mates who thereafter regained their freedom. "Last year, I went on jail delivery to Port Harcourt and other prisons and I released about 80 in-mates who are deserving of the gesture.       The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission today October 19th, 2018 secured the conviction one Haytham Aldahrah, a Lebanese who was arrested at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport while on board Egypt Air to Cairo for refusing to declare the sum of $105,000 and €65,000 respectively to the Nigeria Customs Service. Upon his arrest, Aldahrah declared the sum of $95,000 (Ninety Five Thousand Dollars) but after search was cond ucted on him, it was discovered that he was carrying another sum of $105,000 (One Hundred and Five Thousand Dollars) which he concealed to the authorities. When the convict was arraigned on the 16th of October, 2018, he pleaded not guilty to the two count charge but later changed his plea on the 18th of October, 2018 from not guilty to guilty. The father (name witheld) in April 2017 became a whistle blower after his son (then a secondary school student) intimated him that he had bought a house and a shop valued over N2 Million (Two Million Naira) only. The information of the purchase shocked the father beyond his imagination as such he decided to make a formal complain to the Commission having perceived signs of fraud from his son's explanantion of how he got the money.
