  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. ORTOM APPEALS TO BSU, MAKURDI TO SHELVE PLANNED STRIKE 23rd January, 2023   The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has appealed to industrial unions particularly the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Benue State University chapter to shelve its planned industrial action. Why Captain Enisuoh is Being Investigated- EFCC The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, can confirm that one Captain Warredi Enisuoh, is currently under investigation but the case is unrelated to oil pipeline security or his role as Head of Operations in Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo’s Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited. Enisuoh is under investigation in an alleged case of Money Laundering involving the criminal dissipation of funds in an account held by him but which is the subject of longstanding investigation by the EFCC. Unknown Gunmen behead LGA Chairman after collecting N6m ransome  Abducted Sole Administrator of the Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, Chris Ohizu, has been b€headed.    Ohizu was kidnapped alongside two others on Friday, January 20, from his country home at Imoko community in Arondizuogu area by gunmen who also razed down his building. He was then b€headed on Sunday, January 22, after the collection of N6m ransom.  In videos shared online, the abducted chairman was seen kneeling while his abductors warned Governor Hope Uzodimma that a similar fate awaits him.  After beheading him on Sunday, they posted the video with his phone on his WhatsApp status.   Imo Police Command spokesperson, ASP Henry Okoye, who confirmed the incident said that police had commenced investigation into the incident.  More photos below.

FIRST PALESTINIAN FEMALE PASTOR ORDAINED IN JERUSALEM.(PHOTOS).#CONGRATULATIONS.

The first Palestinian female pastor has been ordained during a packed ceremony at a Lutheran church in Jerusalem’s Old City. Sally Azar will head the English-speaking congregation at the Church of the Redeemer, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land said. Ms Azar will be one of five ordained women in the Middle East.  The West Bank and Gaza Strip were home to around 47,000 Christians as of 2017, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics said.  Most Palestinian Christians belong to denominations that do not allow female clergy. A very small minority belong to Protestant congregations that have women as ministers. More photos below.

Federal Government To Handover Ahmadu Bello Stadium To Kaduna State President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the return of Ahmadu Bello Stadium to the Kaduna State Government and thus put the Stadium in the full custody of the State. Nigeria’s Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Mr. Sunday Dare disclosed this on Friday in his office in Abuja when he received the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai. He stated that the Federal Government has approved the return of the facility to the State Government and as such, a Memorandum of Understanding would be signed in order to ensure more development of sporting infrastructure in the area. Dare informed that the Federal Government has concluded plans to formerly handover the Stadium to Kaduna State Government on January 27, 2023 with a view to ensuring more participation of the country’s teeming youth in sporting activities. A WOMAN ROBBED INSIDE OF A BUS IN PAPUA GUINEA,SUSPECT ARRESTED. (PHOTOS).#PRESS RELEASE.

Sunday 22nd January 2023 POLICE NAB SUSPECT IN MORATA. A young woman travelling in a PMV from Waigani to Morata was robbed inside the bus, but fortunately police intervened and caught the suspect within a few minutes.  The victim from Southern Highlands Province said, the suspect was travelling inside the same PMV and observed her, before committing the crime. As the PMV decelerated and came to a stop at Morata, he snatched the phone from the victim and fled.  The brave victim however, hopped out of the bus and chased after the fleeing suspect. A police officer who was driving past saw the commotion and alerted the police operations centre through the Constabulary's radio communication network. A few minutes later, the suspect was arrested by Sector Patrol Fox unit 204 near the community hall in Morata. They heard the incident report over the police radio and immediately responded. Anambra State Police Command wishes to state that there is no report/record as being peddled by some online media and national dailies tagged *seventeen persons injured and nine female students raped in a hostel*. However, the command not wanting to join issues urged the victims of the incident (if there is any) to come forward with information that will help the Police to embark on investigations. Also, members of the public should be guided as serious cases of this nature should be reported to the closest police station than resorting to social media. This will enable the police to do preliminary findings before embarking on a proper investigation.
