 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud.       The attention of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to a viral video credited to “@NigeriaDream”, showing a security officer meting out inhuman treatment to a man in clear violation of his rights, dignity and freedom. In the video, the security officer was seen stamping his feet on the neck and head of a man lying helplessly on the floor. The Force condemns the act. It has   however painstakingly fact-checked and examined the video and hereby states that the incident did not take place anywhere or at any time in Nigeria. A critical look at the video indicates that - the vehicles on the scene are neither common vehicles used in Nigeria nor are the number plates of Nigerian pattern; Although the man in uniform looks like a private security guard that can be found anywhere, he is certainly not a personnel of the Nigeria Police Force. A seven-man panel of the apex court led by Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour held that virtual court sittings are presumed to be valid and not been declared unconstitutional by the apex court. Members of the panel dismissed the fear said to be entertained by many judges as to the constitutionality of remote hearings in the country. They maintained that the Chief Judges of the states that had issued practice direction to provide for virtual sitting when convenient had the duty to enforce the directive. They made the comments during the hearing of separate suits filed by the Attorneys-General of Lagos and Ekiti states on the adoption of remote hearings by judges in their states.        A Nigerian couple welcomed a set of twins three weeks apart. According to the father, David Bankole, he and his wife got married in 2003 and had to wait sixteen years before welcoming their first child, a girl, in February of 2019. He revealed his wife quickly conceived afterward and on June 19, 2020, she gave birth to their second baby. They had a naming ceremony for the new baby. He revealed it was after the naming ceremony that his wife started to complain she was having some movement in her stomach.       14 year old Anita Haledu Ibrahim, a resident of Angwan Dorowa, Gbuja village, Andaha, Akwanga Local Government of Nasarawa state had committed suicide. The deceased, an SS1 student of Government Science School Andaha, is said to have drank herbicide on Saturday 11th July, 2020 which resulted to her death. A source close to the family disclosed that the deceased got pregnant for her boyfriend, who is also a resident of Andaha, during the COVID-19 lockdown. According to the source, the father who later found out about the pregnancy, out of anger beat her up severely. She died in the early hours of today Tuesday, 14th July, 2020 due to effect of the herbicide she took. Burial preparations have been made and Anita is being buried in her family residence in Angwan Dorowa, Gbuja village, Andaha.
