 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

      In keeping with its tradition of immortalizing fallen heroes, especially those that paid the supreme price while serving the nation, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has named a newly built block of six 3-bedroom flats at the NAF Base, Asokoro, Abuja after late Group Captain Ubong Nnamso Akpan. The late senior officer who was a combat helicopter pilot died while on a combat mission in counterinsurgency operations in the Northeast on 13 November 2014.        The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ilorin Zonal Office on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 secured the conviction of three persons charged on offences bordering on romance scam. The convicts are, Akeem Mustapha (alias Patricia Cuppa), Abolarin Sunday (alias Cindy Holland), and Murtala Abdulrasheed (alias Cindy Holland). They were convicted and sentenced to one year imprisonment by a Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilori n by Justice Mustapha Abdulgafar. They pleaded “guilty” to the one-count amended charge levelled against them by the anti-graft agency. The one count amended charge reads: “That you, Murtala Abdulrasheed (alias Cindy Holland), sometime in February 2019, at Ilorin, within the judicial division of the Kwara State High Court, did attempt to cheat by personation, when you pretended to be one Daniel Aaron, a Vice Admiral in the United States Navy who is a single dad; a representation you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to S

     The General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Nigerian Army (NA) and Land Component Commander (LCC) Joint Task Force Operation Delta Safe (JTF OPDS), Maj Gen Jamil Sarham has on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Tukur Yusufu Buratai formally declared opened the 2019, 6 Division Inter-Brigades Sports Competition. The ceremony took place at the 6 Division Sports Ground in Port Harcourt Barracks, Rivers State, heralds several sporting activities including Football, Volleyball, Basket ball and Tug-of-War between the various formations and units under the Division. ANTI-GRAFT WAR: EFCC ENGAGES RELIGIOUS LEADERS IN KANO.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

     The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has called on religious leaders to partner with anti-graft agency in the fight against corruption.   Magu made the call during an interactive session he had with senior Islamic Scholars and Christian leaders in Kano, on June 25, 2019. “It is my view that all religions prohibit corruption, which is why I thought it wise to engage religious groups, because they have easy reach-out to the public,” he said. He also told them that fighting corruption cannot be won if only the government is fighting it. “All stakeholders need to take the ownership of the fight because fighting corruption needs multi-dimensional approach,” he said. Magu further promised to organise a Workshop for religious leaders “where they will learn corruption fight the EFCC way”.       Nollywood actress Queen Wokoma   and  Prince Kalada   Allison   have separated after one year together as a married couple. Wokoma, a lookalike of fellow Nolywood actress Ini Edo, married the Rivers state-born politician in September 2017. The couple, who share a son together, have remained private about their relationship until Tuesday morning when Allison took to his Instagram page to reveal the crash. “There is always an end to everything, this is the end of us, it’s best we go our separate ways, please no bashing for the sake of our innocent son,” he wrote. “I believe this is the best decision ever, peace is priceless, and no man wants to die before his time, I am by this formally letting the general public know that Queen Wokoma is no longer my wife, pending our final annulment (divorce). “I wish her and whoever she intends to spend her life with the best in future. #peaceispriceless.” Wokoma joined the movie industry in 2011 with the movie ‘Blood on Fire’.

      The Lagos State Ministry of Education has announced new dates for the 2019/2020 Entrance Examinations into the State Model Colleges and Upgraded Schools, the Placement Test into JSS 1 in all Public Secondary Schools across the State and the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). According to a release by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Olatokunboh Adel eye, the examinations are aimed at testing the applicants’ academic capabilities for their choice of classes in the State-owned Schools. She stated that the new dates for the examinations are as follows: BECE: Monday 15th -Tuesday, 23rd July 2019; Computer-Based Screening Test (CBT) is scheduled for Monday 15th - Friday, 19th July 2019, while the Paper Pencil Test (PPT) will hold on Saturday, 20th July 2019.
