 Noise pollution: Lagos seals five churches, 19 hotels The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has temporarily shut down no fewer than five churches and 19 hotels over noise pollution between March 23 and April 26  Calculations by our correspondent also showed that no fewer than four markets and shopping complexes were also shut down over noise pollution and other environmental infractions. The churches that have been temporarily sealed include St Monica’s Hall of Our Lady of Lord’s Catholic Church, Christ Rock of Fire Ministry, Wonderful Bible Prayer Ministries, God’s Porch Ministries, and an unnamed Catholic Church Some of the hotels affected are School2bar, Blue Seasons Hotel and Suites, Sulerious Lakeside Hotel, Monero Hotel and Suites, and Lekki Hotel and Suites. Enugu govt, NSIA sign agreement on take over of State Medical Diagnostic Centre The administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in Enugu State has signed an agreement with the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) for the federal agency to take over the state-of-the-art Enugu State Medical Diagnostic Centre, Enugu.  The agreement is to pave the way for the NSIA to provide comprehensive medical, diagnostic and oncology (cancer) treatment services to the people of Enugu State and beyond.  Recall that Gov. Ugwuanyi’s administration, sequel to the approval of the State Executive Council (EXCO), recently reached an agreement with the NSIA for the upgrade of the Medical Diagnostic Centre in Enugu, built by the state government.   The agreement to take over the health facility was reached after series of negotiations between the Enugu State Government and the NSIA. Crisis brews in Anambra community over crowning of two cousins Igwe Prince Afamefuna Umezoke (Ezike Obiadada) has been crowned Igwe Ohazurume 1 of Amichi who is purportedly the new traditional ruler of the community. The event which took place at the premises of Amichi town hall was graced by Elder Alphonsus Ezeokenwa; Chief Chiedozie Ezeoke; President-General of Amichi community, Chief Cletus Udegbuana; his Vice, Dr Jeff Okeke, other members of Amichi Development Union (ADU); Rev Fr Ferdinand Ume-Ezeoke, among other members of the community. Presenting the vehicles to the Council Chairmen on Monday, September 19th, 2022 at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi, the Governor urged them to use the vehicles judiciously for the service of their people. He said the vehicles were meant to enhance the effective operations of the local government Chairmen in their respective areas.   Governor Ortom pointed out that the choice of the Toyota Hilux vehicles was informed by the reason that they could easily navigate difficult terrains in facilitating movement of the Chairmen even at the grassroots communities. The Speaker of the House, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, made the appeal after Alhaji Tanko Tunga, the Majority Leader, raised the issue under matters of urgent public importance at plenary in Lafia on Monday. Abdullahi said that the devastated effect of flooding across the state was colossal, hence the need for the intervention. Avoid Kaduna Airport, Shehu Sani Advises Protesting Students   Former lawmaker, Shehu Sani, on Tuesday, advised the National Association of Nigerian Students that they should stay away from Kaduna airport as they protest against the prolonged strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities. He disclosed this on his Twitter handle.
