EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

                       A Brazilian women's rugby sevens player has become the first athlete to receive a marriage proposal at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.25 years old Cerullo was a member of the Brazil squad who finished ninth in the inaugural Olymoic outing for sevens.After the medal ceremony following the first women's rugby sevens final in Olympic history on Monday had ended,Marjorie Enya,28 and a manager at Deodoro Stadium asked Cerullo to marry her.Speaking to BBC,Enya said she had not been nervous about popping the question so publicly to her partner of two years,insisting ''She is the love of my life''.More photos below.                                                                        

LAGOS THREATENS TO CONFISCATE BUILDINGS USED AS HIDEOUTS BY CRIMINALS+SCALES UP ENFORCEMENT OF RESTRICTION,BAN ON STREET TRADING.

                    The Lagos State Government today tuesday warned that any building used as hideouts by kidnappers,vandals and other criminal elements in any part of the State would henceforth be confiscated and ttaken over by government.The State Government,while vowing that it would henceforth scale up enforcement of restriction of commercial motorcycles,popularly called Okada,on certain routes and ban on street trading,said security agencies have been placed on red alert and that there shall no longer be any hiding place for criminal elements in any part of the State.RRising from the monthly State Security Council Meeting chaired by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode,the government said it had resolved to henceforth embark on massive and aggressive confiscation of properties used as hideouts by criminal elements in the State.The State's Commissioner of Police,Mr Fatai Owoseni,who briefed journalists at the end of tthe meeting alongside heads of all security agencies in the State,said t

                  Today tuesday 9th of August 2016,marks China's traditional Valentine;s day,known as Qixi.The occasion falls on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month on the Chinese calender and is also known as the Chinese Double Seven Festival.A couple from central China's Hunan Province decided t spice up the day by taking their wedding to the extreme.In an attempt to test how solid their love is,the two decided to hold their ceremony hanging from a glass-bottomed bridge.The duo lied on a board suspended over a 180m-deep valley at the Shiniuzhai National Geopark in Pingjiang county,Hunan Province.Now that's a day they won't forget.More photos below.

                       The Enugu Zonal office of the EFCC has arrested three persons: Chukwuma Charles Eze,Ogechii Emeka Okwuosa and Anokwuru Miriam Iheoma,{f} in a case of impersonation and attempt to obtain money by false pretences from the Anambra State Secretary to the Peoples Democratic Party {PDP},Hon Prince Casmir I.  Ajulu.The arrest of the trio came to the heels of a petition that a text message was purportedly sent on 26th March,2016 by the Acting Executive Chairman of EFCC,Ibrahim Magu to Ajulu's phone requesting him to send a list of names of House of Representatives designates that want their Certificate of Return for the last election held in Anambra State.Several subsequent messages from the two mobile numbers belonging to Glo and MTN network respectively demanded from the petitioner the sum of N16,0000,000.00 {Sixteen Million Naira Only} assuring him that the EFCC Chairman was in touch and working with the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission {INEC}

                     According to The Telegragh,the world's longest hunger strike came to an end today tuesday,as an activist dubbed as India's ''Iron Lady'',broke her 16 year fast but vowed to continue fighting alleged army brutalities by running for political office.Irom Sharmila had not taken food or drink by mouth since November 2000,instead fed through a plastic tube in her nose.She became the figurehead of protests against a controversial law that gives Indian soldiers sweeping powers to shoot-on-sight in ''troubled '' parts of the country,such as her native northeastern state of Manipur.Critics of the law say it is used to cover up massive human rights abuses in Msnipur,which has suffered a decades-long armed insurgency fighting for independence from India.But Ms Sharmila decided to end her record-breaking defiance on tuesday,admiting it would not succeed in forcing India's government to revoke the Armed Forces {Special Powers} Act.
