 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

LAGOS MOVES TO CRIMINALISE POWER THEFT VANDALISATION.{PHOTOS}.

                           The Lagos State Government todaay tuesday said it has concluded plans to enact a law to specifically crminalise and punish severely persons who engage in power theft and vandalisation,expressing optimism that it would go a long way to tackle the menace headlong.Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources,Mr Olawale Oluwo,who said this at the ongoing Ministerial press briefing to commemorate the second year in office of Goverment was worried that its efforts to ensure streets of Lagos are well lit was being threatened by vandals.He said the Government had noticed a trend where some electricity infrastructures are damaged by hit and run motorists,saying that such was detrimental to the quest of the State to ensure that every nook and cranny of the State is lit.But he said the State Government was coming up with a law under its Embedded Power Initiative to protect public lighting infrastructures from such destruction and vandalisation.''We have noticed

STOP ASSAULTING OUR OFFICIALS-LAGOS STATE GOVT WARNS TODAY.

                  The Lagos State Government has warned the general public to henceforth desist from molesting or assaulting its officials on duties within the State or face tthe wrath of the State Government.Giving this warning was the State Commissioner for Finance,Mr Akinyemi Ashade,while reactng to a report of assault of a Land Use Charge field officer on duty at No 9,Mologede Street Meiran in Ayobo-Ipaja area of the State.According to the report,Usuaulele Ernest and his sister Usuaulete Jessica beat up the field officer and destroyed hiss camera while taking the photography of a bill posted on the property as part of the evidence of notice served on the property as demanded by Law.The Commissioner warned that the State Government will not hesitate to deal decisively with anybody obstructing its officials in the performance of his/her lawful duty within the provision of Law.Ashade urged Land Use Charge Field Officers to continue putting in their best in the performance of their dut

EFCC ARRAIGNS A FEMALE MEDICAL DOCTOR TODAY FOR ALLEGED FORGERY.{PHOTOS}.

                                           The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,today tuesday arraigned one Dr Mrs Geraldine Orok Ita before Justice I.E Ekwo of the Federal High Court sitting in Calabar,Cross Rivers State on a nine-count charge bordering on forgery and uttering of documents.The defendant is alleged to have forged and uttered the signature of one Mrs Rose Orok Ita,in documents titled ''Resolutions'' filed at the Corporate Affairs Commission,CAC.The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to her.Based on her plea,the prosecution counsel,Esin Oto Ebipade asked the court to fix a date for trial.However,counsel to the defendant,CAC Efifi told the court that he has filed a bail application and prayed the court to grant bail to the defendant.He said the alleged offence were bailable and that the defendant will be available to face trial.EFCC counsel did not oppose the application but urged the court to ensure that the defendant

BORNO GOVERNMENT TO REHABILITATE FREED CHIBOK GIRLS.{PHOTOS}.

                 The Borno State Government says it will remain committed to partner with the Federal Government in the full rehabilitation and the education of the 82 Chibok girls that have recently been freed.Governor Kashim Shettima,who was reacting to the negotiation and release of the 82 abducted Chibok Schoolgirls in Maiduguri,said all Nigerians should cooperate with federal experts,who would have the task of counseling rehabilitating the girls.The Borno State Governor said the full rehabilitation of the girls was a collective priority,which the people should place first before any search for new insights.The Borno State Governor said the freedom of these Chibok girls had renewed the government's hope,as well as strengthened its faith in the commitment and capacity of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration to continue to work for the freedom of the remaining girls,who were still in capacity.He urged parents,whose daughter were not part of those freed,to keep hope ali
