  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.                   The National Youth Service Corp {NYSC} members serving in Abuja Police Headquarters,donated the head-to shoulder gold sculpture of the first indigenous Inspector General of Police Sir Louis Orok Edet IGP {1964-1966}.The sculpture was unveiled by the current Inspector General of Police {IGP} Solomon E Arase NPM,fdc.Musician Korede Bello who is one of the police Ambassadors,was present in the event.This is a good deed at least it will be written in history.More photos below.

                      According to sources,today tuesday,the Zambian police briefly detained two journalists over a story quoting an opposition leaders saying President Edgar Lungu used public funds to pay for a holiday.According to Police spokeswoman Charity Munganga-Chanda,who said that the ''Two journalists from a privately owned newspaper were released after paying a bond.The two have been jointly charged with Erick Chanda.They will appear in court on 18th April''.The offence carries a maximum  penalty of 5 years in prison.On March 21,Erick Chanda,leader of the Fourth Revolution Party,was charged with defamation of the president following a May 9,2015 newspaper report in which he accused Lungu of having spent taxpayers money at a holiday resort last year.Critics say that with the series of arrests,Lungu is trying to intimidate opponents ahead of the elections.Lungi,who is standing for re-election,has been in power for just over year after winning a closely fought pr

                    Prince Harry,on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen,today attended a service of commemoration at Westminster Abbey for the victims of the 2015 terrorists attacks in Tunisia.The service,for family members of those who lost their lives,or were seriously injured and those who witnesses the attacks in Tunisia,commemorated the British nationals who were killed during the attacks.Prince Harry laid a wreath at the Innocent Victims Memorial on behalf of the Queen before the Service,and delivered a reading during the Service itself.More photos below.                                               

ABOUT 15 PEOPLE WERE ARRESTED YESTERDAY IN OJOTA,FOR VIOLATING THE STATE ENVIRONMENTAL LAW.

               The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offenses Uni {Task Force} has arresed 10 people for violating the State Environmental Law and impounded five motorcycles for plying restricted routes at Ojoa.In a statement issued by the Office of the ask Force,its operatives carried out an enforcement exercise today at Ogudu and Ojota,imploring members of the public to use pedestrian bridges instead of crossing the roads and highways thereby causing traffic obstructions and endangering their lives.It noted that the operation,which was tagged operation ''Use Pedestrian Bridges on Highways across Lagos'' is meant to educate and enlighten members of the public on the dangers inherent in crossing highways across the state.The statement emphasized that enforcing the environmental law on people crossing highways across the state is to sanitize the environment by reducing the rate of accident and allow free flow of traffic on the roads.It also warned the gene
