  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.          A man narrowly escaped death after he was attacked by armed robbers early yesterday morning in Awka, Anambra state. According to Cosmos Chinedu, the victim was robbed and stabbed about 4 times when going to work this morning at Unizik junction in Temp site, the state capital. The victim was rushed to the hospital where he is currently responding to treatment.

       Justice A.A. Nwobodo of the Enugu State High Court, Enugu, on Monday, March 18, 2019, sentenced one Myke Arisa Onyeike, to 28 days in prison in a case of fake and forged documents which he intended to use to secure the bail of one Ndidi Kalu, who is in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for fraud charges. Onyeike was arraigned on a one-count charge bordering on cheating and obtaining by tricks. The charge reads: “That you, Myke Arisa Onyike, (alias Alexander Ebia Okoro) between the 11th - 13th of February 2019, in Enugu, Enugu State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained by tricks the sum of N40,000 (Forty Thousand Naira), from Ndidi Kalu, when you represented to her that you are Alexander Ebia Okoro a staff of Abia State Government, Ministry of Agriculture and capable of standing as a surety to secure her bail at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s office in Enugu which pretence you knew

TROOPS REPELS TERRORISTS ATTACK ON MICHIKA IN ADAMAWA STATE.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

           Boko Haram terrorists met their Waterloo and suffered heavy casualties yesterday evening the 18th of March 2019 when they attempted to infiltrate Michika in Adamawa State. At about 7.20 pm, gallant troops of 115 Task Force Battalion deployed at Lassa in Borno State received a distress call from vigilantes at Maikadiri village on movement of suspected Boko Haram terrorists along Road Maikadiri – Shuwari enroute Michika. The troops immediately organized blocking positions and swooped on the terrorists which led to an exchange of fire. The terrorists attempted to escape, but were intercepted and suppressed with heavy volume of fire. Consequently, the troops with reinforcement from 143 Battalion Gulak engaged the terrorists on Two Front Coordinated Attacks. The BHTs were completely routed by the troops, neutralizing many of them, while others fled in disarray due to superior firepower.         The Lagos State Government has advised owners of structures marked for demolition to rebuild them forthwith or risk forfeiture of their houses. The State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye while commiserating with families of victims of the collapsed building at Ita Faji Street on Lagos Island, called for the cooperation of members of the public in reporting  locations of distressed structures to the State authorities. Ogunleye pointed out that the Ministry had identified 149 distressed and defective buildings in different parts of the State, demolishing 40 in the first phase while 38 others were slated for the second phase prior to last week’s unfortunate incident.         Nigerian Student, Emelife Stella Chinelo, has broken a record after winning an historic 20 Gold medals in MSc Chemistry at the University Of Mysore in India. She was the Overall Best Graduating Student of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto with a CGPA of 4.86 in 2012/13. Stella Chinelo Emelife was also the Overall Best Graduating Student at the University of Mysore in India with a final grade point of 9.263% and 20 Gold medals.
