 Outcries Over State Recognised Vigilantes In North-West   The security outfits established by various state governments, especially in the North-West, are being accused of indiscriminate arrests and killing of suspects, as well as innocent people without recourse to judicial processes, findings by Daily Trust Saturday revealed. But those charged with the responsibility of managing the outfits have debunked the claims of extrajudicial killings, though some admitted what they described as “overzealousness” by some of the operatives. It was alleged that in some states, long lists of suspected bandits, their supporters or sympathisers have been arrested and ultimately killed, and such acts are allegedly being carried out without recourse to the police and other law enforcement agencies. OFFA ROBBERY: GOVERNOR AHMED OFFERS N5M FOR INFORMATION ON ATTACKERS.

      Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed has offered N5m to anyone who provides useful information leading to the capture and prosecution of those involved in the robbery attack in Offa, headquarters of Offa local government of the state, last Thursday. Governor Ahmed, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Dr. Muyideen Akorede, called on anyone with useful information  on the incident to contact the state police command on the following numbers (‭0803 739 1280‬ and 0803 702 4320)‬. "While we mourn our dead with a heart full of sadness, and care for the injured by paying all their medical bills, we will do everything in our power to bring the attackers to justice and ensure that never again does any community or people in our state experience such tragedy", Governor Ahmed said. The physically challenged man got married in style to his beautiful and longtime girlfriend last weekend in the eastern part of the country. The colorful traditional wedding was reported to have attracted many villagers who witnessed the occasion. The bride's pregnancy was visible at the event despite trying to cover it up.        Yesterday  The Prince of Wales visited Vanuatu to see the work that has been done since natural disaster Cyclone Pam wreaked devastation on the island. The Prince was greeted by the President of Vanuatu before receiving a salusalu welcome garland. His Royal Highness was able to meet so many of the island’s residents during his time there with visits including Port Vila Central Hospital and a local handicraft market. Before departing Vanuatu, The Prince of Wales visited a chief’s nakamal and received a chief title - Mal Menaringmanu - in a traditional ceremony. The Prince planted a “namale fern” to mark the occasion and drank a special “kava” known as the Royal Kava, which is reserved for special occasions and was only last consumed during a visit by The Duke of Edinburgh in 1974.More photos below.

Troops of 72 Battalion Special Forces on 7 April 2018 while on clearance operation in Gbajimba, Baka, Tomanyi, Iyode and Dogon Yashi made contact with armed herdsmen militias at about 1330hours (1:30pm). The armed herdsmen militia on fighting one troops engaged them in a fire fight. In the exchange of fire, 1 militia herdsman was killed while 1 other with gunshots w ounds and 3 others were arrested. 1 Ak 47 assault rifle was recovered after the encounter. 2. Additionally, at about 1430hours (2:30pm), 2 other herdsmen engaged in destructive activities on farmlands were arrested at Chembe community. Earlier, Troops of the Battalion on patrol at Jatoaka town effected the arrest of 10 armed robbery suspects linked to an armed robbery incidence at about 0415hours (4:15am).       Two final Year Mass Communication   students   of the Benue State University were pictured writing their exam in their wedding gowns. The  Mass Communications students wrote their last examination Com 402: Media Law and Ethics in their wedding gowns yesterday. The exam was scheduled for yesterday and it clashed with their weddings. And since the   exam   couldn’t be shifted, the two brides stormed the hall in their   gowns .You will be shocked they will pass more than those that have no commitment yesterday.More photos below.
