 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

U.S. national security advisor Jake Sullivan gave a stern warning to Americans living in Ukraine after revealing Washington believes Vladimir Putin will invade Ukraine: get out now because the U.S. will not be coming back to rescue anyone.  'We encourage all American citizens who remain in Ukraine to depart immediately,' Sullivan said. 'We want to be crystal clear on this point. Any American in Ukraine should leave as soon as possible and in any event in the next 24 to 48 hours.' Eleven Suspected Internet Fraudsters Arrested in Uyo The Uyo Zonal Command of the EFCC, on Wednesday February 9, 2022 effected the arrest of eleven suspected internet fraudsters in a sting operation at different locations within Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The suspects aged between 18 and 30 years are: Caleb Jackson, Inemesit Sunday E., Oputu Samuel Belle aged 20 from Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State and a Civil engineering student of Uniuyo; Chinonso Ozuruigbo, Onyemaechi Chisom ,Nzeakor Uchenna , Umana Israel Victor, Bassey Solomon Utuk Patrick and Ekemini Akaninyene Effiong.

EFCC Arrest Eight Internet Fraud Suspects in Ilorin The Ilorin Zonal Command of the EFCC, has arrested eight (8) persons over their alleged involvement in cyber-fraud, including cheating by personation and love scam. The suspects are Abdulrahman Ridwan, David Ayodeji, Gideon Thomas, Yinus Muiz, Yinus Lateef, Jimoh Ahmed, Lawal Farouk Opeyemi and Oladimeji Ridwan. They were arrested in Basin and Asa-Dam areas of Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital following credible intelligence about their alleged criminal activities. Soludo’s inauguration not for public, will last 20 minutes – Commissioner The Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C-Don Adinuba, has said the inauguration of the state governor-elect, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, would be done within 20 minutes. Adinuba also stated that the ceremony, which will hold on March 17, would be conducted in front of the Government House, Awka without any fanfare. The commissioner spoke to journalists in Awka on Thursday, while emphasising that the public was not invited to the ceremony as the event would be brief.

NDLEA intercepts 40,250kg Codeine worth N2b at Lagos port Barely a week after operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, seized 14,080kg of Codeine based syrup at the Apapa seaport, Lagos, they have again intercepted 40,250 kilograms of the schedule 2 controlled narcotic worth over N2billion imported in two 40ft containers from India. The drug bust comes on the heels of a similar seizure of 14,080kg codeine syrup and 4,352.43kg cold caps used to conceal the former in a 40ft container imported from India, on Wednesday 2nd February, 2022 at the Apapa port. Both seizures followed intelligence from foreign partners and cooperation of other port stakeholders such as Customs, DSS, Navy and others. The latest consignments intercepted on Tuesday 8th February were brought into the country in two containers marked HLBU 2239792 with 1,125 cartons of the drug and HLBU 1067338 with 1,751 cartons, with a market value of N2, 012, 500, 000 (Two Billion, Twelve Million and Five Hund
