 Outcries Over State Recognised Vigilantes In North-West   The security outfits established by various state governments, especially in the North-West, are being accused of indiscriminate arrests and killing of suspects, as well as innocent people without recourse to judicial processes, findings by Daily Trust Saturday revealed. But those charged with the responsibility of managing the outfits have debunked the claims of extrajudicial killings, though some admitted what they described as “overzealousness” by some of the operatives. It was alleged that in some states, long lists of suspected bandits, their supporters or sympathisers have been arrested and ultimately killed, and such acts are allegedly being carried out without recourse to the police and other law enforcement agencies. Performing the ceremony at the New Banquet Hall of Benue Peoples House Makurdi, Governor Ortom enjoined the advisers to be guided by the core values of his administration which include transparency, accountability, justice, fairness, reconciliation, peace and unity which would make d evelopment inevitable. UPDATE ON GARSHIGAR ENCOUNTER: 4 BOKO HARAM MEMBER KILLED,WEAPONS SEIZED+2 SOLDIERS WOUNDED.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      Troops of 145 Battalion deployed in Operation LAFIYA DOLE on Counter Insurgency Operations in Borno State on 26 September repelled Boko Haram insurgents on rampage in Garshigar, Mobar Local Government Area. During the operation, 4 BHT members were killed in action. Items recovered include; 6 x AK 47. 1 x RPG tube 1 x RPG bomb.  Unfortunately, 2 soldiers were wounded during the encounter and they are being managed at unit level. The good people of Mobar LGA are urged to remain calm and be assured of troops' commitment and resilience to providing adequate security in the general area. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TY Buratai commended the troops for maintaining superior fire power that devastated the insurgents, inflicting human and equipment casualty on them. He also enjoined them to maintain same effort in conducting mop up operation to neutralize the fleeing BHT that escaped with bullet wounds. Below are some of pictures. More photos below.

N4.7BN FRAUD: COURT ADJOURNS EX-OYO GOV. LADOJA'S TRIAL INDEFINATELY

     Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos has adjourned sine die the ongoing trial of a former governor of Oyo State, Rasheed Ladoja. Ladoja is facing trial alongside a former Commissioner for Finance in the state, Waheed Akanbi, for allegedly laundering a sum of N4.7bn from the coffers of Oyo State government. At today’s sitting, the prosecution counsel, O. O. Olabisi, statedthat he had filed an amended charge against the defendant before the court. He also prayed for an extension of the fiat issued to the Judge by the President of the Court of Appeal to conclude the matter this month. Justice Idris is among the 12 High Court judges recently elevated to the Court of Appeal. Counsel to the first defendant, Bolaji Onilenla, opposed the application of prosecution to amend the charge, saying, “At this critical stage, the prosecution cannot amend the charge.” Onilenla, however, aligned himself with the prayer of the prosecution

      Our attention has been drawn once again to a fake employment letter currently in circulation. Recall that on 13 Sept , 2018, a press release was issued by the Corps distancing itself from such appointment letters. Please note for the umpteenth time that the screening of applicants by FRSC has commenced transparently nationwide and the process will climax with an aptitude test to be conducted by JA MB and an interview for all successful applicants. So the purported employment letter in circulation is a scam. Applicants and Nigerians are advised to be wary of swindlers and mischief makers. The fake appointment letters in circulation are the handiwork of fraudsters aimed at defrauding unsuspecting applicants or for the purpose of discrediting the Commission. Findings showed that it surfaced before the screening exercise commenced and it was promptly disclaimed by my office.
