 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. Ogun To Distribute 5000 CofO Friday Ogun State Government will, on Friday, December 1, distribute 5000 Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) to beneficiaries. A statement issued on Tuesday by the office of the Director General, Bureau of Lands and Survey, said Governor Dapo Abiodun will present the certificates to beneficiaries, thus enhancing the value of their properties, as they can be used as collaterals, while house and landowners can also take advantage of the state's proximity to Lagos to maximise value. The beneficiaries are drawn from the Ogun State Land Administration and Revenue Management System (OLARMS) and the immediate pass administration’s Home Owners Charter (HOC). The event will be held at the Arcade Ground, Governor’s Office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta. According to the statement, beneficiaries would be mandated to present valid means of identification. Woman steals 3-year-old girl in Ogun. An unidentified woman has reportedly stolen a 3-year-old girl in Sango area of Ogun State. According to one Abiodun Rauph, the girl identified as Toyibat Musa, was stolen while playing in front of her parent’s house at Araromi 2 Quarters on Saturday, November 25, 2023. Fire Razes Singer Orezi's Residence In Lagos  Singer Esegine Allen, popularly known as Orezi, has lamented a fire that razed his home in the Lekki area of Lagos State.  Orezi shared photos and video of his burnt residence on his Instagram story on Tuesday.  He wrote, "Last night was really hectic. Still trying to figure out and wrap my head around all that happened.  "I'm sitting here asking my self why me. God is indeed merciful. Can't thank God enough.  "I was as a meeting in Lekki county last night around around 11.48pm when I got a call from my neighbor, Bobrisky, that my house is on fire. Boko Haram Beheads 11 Loggers in Brutal Ambush in Borno State In a horrifying incident on Monday near Bale village in Damboa LGA, suspected Boko Haram members riding camels ambushed and beheaded 11 local wood loggers.   The victims, who were working at their charcoal site, faced a merciless attack, with six bodies found dismembered at the scene around 5 pm. A vigilant source from the area, part of the local vigilante group, disclosed that the attackers ignored pleas for mercy and killed six loggers instantly. The group also revealed that they discovered 15 camel footprints, indicating the assailants’ mode of transportation. While some loggers managed to escape, the fate of five others remains unknown. Man arrested for opening bank account with another person’s identity A 42-year-old man, Samuel Olalere, who allegedly opened an account with another person’s picture and name, was on Monday brought before an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos. Olalere, is standing trial on a two-count charge of fraud and stealing, preferred against him by the police. The Prosecutor, ASP Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime between October and November, at No. 16, Taiwo St., Egan, Igando, Lagos. Aigbokhan said the defendant used the picture of the complainant, one Miss Nkem Akwue, and her name, to open an account with three different online banks, Opay, Palmpay and Oxloan, without her consent. He said the defendant fraudulently obtained a cash sum of N771,000 from the complainant through the online bank. The prosecutor said the defendant did the transaction without prior knowledge of the complainant. He said the offences contravened Sections 278 and 370(a)

Lagos claims world record for city with worst road traffic [SEE FULL LIST] Traffic Index has released its annual report on global traffic congestion ranking for 2023 with Lagos State emerging as the city with the worst road traffic in the world. Traffic Index is a web-based application built on top of the traffic layer within Google Maps. The specified layer uses 4 colors to represent traffic congestion: green, orange, red, dark-red. The darker the color is, the more congestion can bee observed in that location. Every 20 minutes, the web app saves an image for each tracked location, containing the traffic data reported by Google Maps. After a couple of minutes, the images are analyzed, and the percentages of the 4 traffic colors are calculated. The Oba of Benin, who was in Lagos State on Sunday, had claimed that according to history, Lagos was founded by the Binis. The monarch, who was in the state to meet Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said, ‘’It is in the history books that the Binis founded Lagos.
